Forums - Nintendo - Bandai Namco: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a bit hit on Switch, selling out in Japan

I hope it sells well.. Bandai will have no excuse to bring the Dragon Ball FighterZ to Switch.

Yesterday, Bandai Namco published a tweet saying that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a big hit on Switch.

That was followed up by another message earlier today stating that there’s a bit of a shortage for the physical version. More shipments are planned towards the end of this month.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 debuted for Switch in Japan this week. Specifically, the game launched on Thursday, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will arrive in North America and Europe later this month (September 22).

At this point Japanese companies have no reason to not believe the Switch versions aren't successful.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

When is it release in U.S.?
This month right?

I'm tempted to get it. Haven't had a DBZ game since Tenkaichi 2 and I do like those tenkaichi games, which this is essentially.

This has the story of Xenoverse 1 included as well right? Thought I heard that.

"Big hit" implies that initial shipments were at least of respectable size. We'll see in next week's charts.

Well not respectable enough since they are having a shortage.

But always good to hear when a company underships a game versus overships. That always means the game did way better than they expected.

Let me see numbers and I'll wait til the game is released WW on Switch to see if it's a real hit or not.

Awesome news, and you can buy it rigth now from the japanese eshop, i got it day one, great game!!

34 years playing games.

It would be good if they actually posted some numbers, but good nonetheless.

I think it should be noted that people should not expect big numbers next week.Rather, I think a good figure to expect would be somwhere around 50K.Bandai probably means that for a port of an old game, and for what they expected, 50K or so is a big hit.
Hope this also means that Fighters Z releases on the Switch alongside the other versions.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Great news for them. Now, please bring DB Fighter Z and Digimon games.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I wouldn't call 10k a big hit. However it probably won't discourage companies from putting in more ports. Which is nice because ports sometimes leads to new games.

There's no reason why most Japanese companies should try to support the Switch. It's the future of dedicated gaming devices.
