if you wanna be specific more like week 53-60. that would be holiday 2014 for the PS4.

Wouldn't mean anything though.....

How would be 2 Christmas vs 1 more specific ? Switch was in shortage all year and no one is saying the first 6 months doesn't count cause it could have sold more. Anyway, Switch is outselling the PS4 during it's 2014 holiday season for now too.

I don't think you get how this works...

Then again, reading what you are saying I am beginning to sense that this is a switch is doing better than the PS4 narrative that you are pushing. If thats the case.... then all I will say is lets wait and see.

Mind you, the Switch figures have been adjusted yet again. The total differs by around 100k units. Up to 11th of November all figures are correct, but because no global weekly figures past that date have been made official, I'm unable to calculate exact totals.

According to the yearly chart, Switch is at 10.244M while the PS4 is at 10.207M according to your table, so still in front of the PS4 now even after the adjustments.

Now the question is how long the Switch will be able to stay in front of the PS4... and if it could even overtake temporarely the Wii?

Maybe for one week but Switch is definitely losing it's lead against 3DS when both are likely going to sell ~12.5M units by the end of their own 1st year based off of Nintendo's ~10M figure for the Switch as of December 10th ...

I wouldn't be so sure of that

It depends on how well the Switch is selling this holiday season and how high the weekly sales will be after that. We know about US and Japan already, what's missing is Europe and ROW - we will know about those probably more with Nintendo's investors meeting at the end of this month. About the sales in January and February, we will have to wait for the data to come in, but I'm sure it will be higher than in the april-july period where the Switch was heavily supply constrained. If the Switch sells about 12.5M this holiday season and middling 250k a week after that, the Switch would be at 14.5M, around the same as the Wii, 3DS and PS4 managed to achieve in their first 52 weeks

So in other words, Switch would possibly lead for a month or 2

Are kidding me ? 3DS had sold a total of 9.5M units week ending December 10th 2011 according to VGC while Switch at just over 10M units as of December 10th 2017 according to Nintendo themselves. It means every week since the beginning of December the 3DS has started closing the gap with the Switch and not even the 3DS managed an average of 250K units per week during the quarter after the holiday ...

Also the 3DS started outselling the Switch every month WW according to VGC's figures since it's price cut barring October for obvious reason(s) ...

You're right. In 4 weeks of December 3DS sold over 4 million units. It was by far the best holiday season for it to date.  In fact it was the best first December of any console on VGC.  Switch will have really hard time topping it.

Next the Wii very good sales for NS nicely done Nintendo you've completely turned things around.

Maybe it wasn't clear enough in my previous post, but I was betting on high sales in January and February - higher than those of the 3DS at the time and high enough to keep the Wii at bay for some time

After all, my reply was just meant to the idea that Wii could only be overtaken for a week, while I think it can manage to stay ahead a bit longer than that.
