This gaming journalist writes for VentureBeat's GamesBeat (lead writer in fact) and is clearly not a gamer. He went on to blame the game Twitter and he's his excuse on youtube:

Looks like he went to the Polygon school of gaming journalism and this is the type of people who influence gaming...

I saw a post somewhere on Twitter that said developers should make a difficulty mode called "Video Game Journalist". This gameplay along with the Doom gameplay made me lose faith in all of these so called "gamers".

After watching this, Maybe ww3 isn't such a bad idea

Wow I'd heard of Cuphead but never looked into it, I freakin love the ~1930's animation style! Really want it now lol

Otherwise, I just wonder why they posted that in their entirety. For the record, this is not representative of most game journalists, but it's best to just watch your favorite youtubers play it anyway to get a feel for the game. That distance between the reader and article and the trust you put in it are entirely unnecessary now.

I love how the whimsical music perfectly complements the pure comedy of his incompetence.

I just don't understand how this happens. They essentially get payed to play video games at times. Non of them should suck that badly.
