Why not just make an appointment then? You can even do it like me and do it one year in advance because that's how often I let those bastards touch my hair.

They only let you do it 2hrs in advance, at least at this one

What can't leave and do some shopping while you wait?? That's what I do when the wait is that long. Otherwise just make a damn appointment, not that hard.

I don't think you understand. It only lets us do it once the store opens. That means the people ahead of me and the dude were waiting on the reservation button as if they were getting a NES Classic online style. So even if I knew this place did it, I had no chance cause the moment I walked in I was already wayyy behind.

"Not too long ago, you walk in, and you wait maybe 10-20 minutes max before you get called for your cut"

In my place it averages about 1 foookin hour! So this online checkin system is very welcome if I can have it.

Haha... what? That exists? Who knew.

I go to an old man's barders. 2 guys work there, I walk in and book in on like a wednesday, for friday every few months and it's opposite my work, so I walk out of work into there.

... might make more sense for places like Toni and Guys, ones that deal with women's hair which takes longer.

Hmm, pie.

Barbershops with online check-in? What a time to be alive......

That doesn't even make any sense. My barber also only takes reservations but simply because of the reason that there are too many customers so they have to be scheduled. What if 200 people schedule 2h in advance at the same time? That's just plain stupid.

I'm not a fan of conducting any business online. True story, I just made my first amazon purchase last week. :) 2 32gb Vita memory cards. I hated setting up 2 accounts, one for the post office service (my stuff gets delivered there), and one for Amazon. That's now done, but Amazon will be a last resort whenever possible. I remember when pizza places started with online ordering close to 20 years ago, I was like, WTF? How could this possibly be any more convenient than making a phone call? The answer is: it wasn't. At least not then. As for your barbershop issue: I always make appointments, so I'd be calling ahead every time anyways. There have been a few times I called ahead on the day I needed it and got lucky, but the 2 places I go are almost never able to accommodate same day appointments, much less walk-in's.

Get with the times.  I have even ordered a large coke for McDonald's via uber. 15 minutes later a guy dropped off a coke at my front door. I wonder if I was first in line?

Just a coke? There's things I will get with, but the times aren't one of them. Not those ones anyway. I've actually had fast food delivered once ( A&W ) but it just felt weird.

I will say that unless I get a lot of money off for signing up,  I will not grocery shop or shop for clothes online. I like the hands on approach for that. But most everything else is fine for me.  I do not need to touch a videogame to buy it for half the price online.  Or most other things for that matter. The uber was weird and expensive but in certain situations I would do it again.

Well, now that I have everything set up, I'll probably buy some games from Amazon that are import-only. I generally like going out to buy something, and don't find it inconvenient at all, so much of the appeal of online shopping is lost on me right out of the gate.
