Which? I still prefer FF, but think Persona has potential... If they abandon their niche side...

Persona's long past the point of potential. That was Persona 1. They've reached great heights ever since Persona 2. And Persona 5 has shipped almost 2 million copies, and considering the spin-offs they're making, I'd say they're very satisfied with those numbers.

We don't share the same view then. With sales as they are, they can hardly compete with Destiny or Bethesda. The idea is that they are able to join the big leagues...

Says who? When did they ever say that was their goal?

Even if it wasn't, it's never wrong to think bigger... better... There's always room for growth...

I think they might be able to start by not setting their next game in Japan. Eventually, P6 could also introduce FF style graphics to ward off the "weeb" style and try to make it more marketable. Port it to more systems and try to divorce it from the first five...

So... your idea is they create a brand new IP and use and abuse any fans of the old Persona IP as they bastardise it in to a new one which will make old fans hate it and most likely not attract anywhere near enough new ones to replace them either?

Much easier to just create a new IP from scratch. No ill will from fans for ruining an IP they liked that way. And the new fans you're trying to attract are much more likely to join a new IP when it's the first entry than the sixth one...

Then we would fail, since the idea is that something great will be great and cater both to fans and casuals...

Why aren't you quoting my posts? They are thinking bigger, that's why Persona 5 is their best-selling game, and why they're making these spin-offs.

So growth is steady then?

Pretty much.

Uso the quote function, so that it signals whoever you having a discussion with that he or she got a reply.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
