Keep in mind just cause there is an open space that doesn't mean its happening as next week it could be as late as mid August to as soon as next week so expect one within the next few weeks. It also does make sense to have one in the few weeks since we still need details on the following things

Exact release dates for Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Rocket League, Stardew Valley, Skyrim. 

What the Metroid Samus Returns Amiibo do.

Date for the Champion BOTW Amiibo's

One last push for Mario + Rabbids 

What is next for ARMS after Max Brass

When and what is the first update for Splatoon 2

New worlds for Mario Odyseey 

New indie annoucements for Switch

Plaintum Games Switch Teasers (that Wonderful 101 image and them liking those Bayonetta 1 and 2 Switch comparions makes me think we should hear something weather they're ports or sequels)

Well a youtuber by the name of Supermetaldave64, the same guy who claimed Nintendo was developing 2 Metroid titles months before E3 also claims that even with everything that Nintendo has announced so far, they have yet to play their "biggest" card yet. I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Perhaps it'll be a fully loaded Direct like the one in April that focuses on the topics you've presented with a huge surprise towards the end.

Does "Supermetaldave64" actually have credentials? Many people were suspecting/wanting a 2D and Prime Metroid to be in development.

Feels pretty early since we just got the Splatoon 2 Direct, but I sure want another one. We need concrete release dates for a lot of indies that were announced a while ago (I need Runner 3 in my life!). Some more OS updates with new features would be nice too.

Btw, on Monday there will be a Switch server maintenance that will affect all network services (eShop, multiplayer, basically everything), so they could be gearing up for something.

Nobody at that point had called it though, even down to the developers. Even The Know covered it, people wanting a game and somebody calling 2 metroid games are two totally separate things.
