Well my target got like 90 blu-rays and 460 deluxe + regular edition. This is no over exaggeration. We are clearing out an end cap (4 four foot sections in a square) just for the movie. One side will have some shirts and stuff

Well I didnt realize they were pushing the Blu-ray for it this much, since I have no interest in it plus do not work in retail.

I will have to go back and see how well Twilight did on its release week to get some insight as to how well this might do.

Twilight original release was bad for Blu-ray.  Although the Blu-ray release was limited, the numbers were just to heavily in favor of DVD.

The Full release of the Blu-ray version didnt do much better,  it only did about 12%.  Which is terrible considering thats 12% of a 2 month old titles weekly sales

Dayumm
Very detailed, I ONLY buy blurays now.
If it's not on Bluray (ie: tv shows) then I just go right to a torrent site ;)

            | Sony Bravia 52" LCD | Sony Bravia 5.1 System |

     | 20" iMac | 13" MacBook | M17X Alienware Gaming Laptop |

| 120GB Slim PS3 | 80GB Fat PS3 | 250GB Xbox 360 | Wii | PSP Go |

Here are the numbers for week ending 03/14/2010

Blu-ray had a little drop again, but kept it in the double digits.  Ratio was 10:90

Top 20 Ratio also took a drop,  coming in at only 19:81

Top 20

Well the chart doesnt lie, it shows 7% sales for Blu-ray.   It was a limited original release, Best Buy and Target only I believe, and then a few weeks later it had a full release.

You are indeed correct, I'm just saying that - along with the fact that there was a lot less Blu Ray players back then - plays a factor. I expect 2nd moon to be around 20%

Well thats a bold prediction,  I predict no better than 15%,  its just not a movie that the demographic is going to care about it being on Blu-ray.

The difference between a Blu-Ray and a DVD are substantial but they are not issential. Having an old VCR wth its decreasing picture quality became unthinkable when the DVD market started to grow. Now there is nothing wrong with talking down on the Blu-Ray, infact many people think your cool when you say your saving money for important things. Saying that about the DVD would net you a dicussion about why the DVD is better then the VCR.

I think many families out there have no need or no momney for Blu-Ray + HDTV. Students and some rich folk can find the time or the need but Blu-Ray's width spread succes will have to wait a few more years. It could be that by then another (cheaper) competitor has shown himself to take the cake. Afterall none of Sony's formats has ever been a succes, it's like they are cursed.

Wow well for one,  that point has been brought up and discussed many times in this thread,  no need to keep bringing it up.

Also Blu-ray is not a Sony format, if anything its Panasonic as they own the most patents for Blu-ray.  Also  Sony had a part in making DVDs and CDs,  how did those formats turn out?
