digital downloads will be popular.. in the year 2020. how many microsoft units will we go through by then?! what i dont get is why the DD service is so hyped, i have ondemand already and id so much rather have the disc anyways. seriously whats all the hype about? i heard its going to be HD moves, true or false?
4/20! Sorry, had to throw that one in there. I am really curious to see what the ratios will be like once we hit Christmas. Right now it is averaging about 6% Blu-Ray to 94% DVD.

There are already considerable DD sales on the Xbox 360 alone (or so Microsoft tells us). Sony themselves are looking to push it int the future, and Itunes and Nokia's service (not to mention all the web companies) are pushing it as well.
I expect they will be popular (though not dominant) long before 2020, and I think DVD will remain the largest market share holder for at least 5-7 years, when we'll start to see a DD push on a large scale.

dont worry about it, I dont smoke pot but I toasted the night away.
Anyways, I think as the catalog of titles for Blu-ray grows and HD-DVD final dies off (8 more movies to be released), Blu-ray growth will start kickiung things into high gear.
so what about hard drive space? most 360's have close to non. is that an issue? about the bluray vs dvd. i never saw bluray taking over dvd but i can only see it growing with HDTV's getting cheaper and cheaper. we had some guest speaker in my architecture class who makes just average sized homes, he said the number one thing that people as for in the their plan is a plasma tv! they pick the big tv over better insolation and or geothermal heating which after only a year or two could have payed for that tv! i see bluray getting bigger, dvd shrinking a bit but not much.
also wont most 360 owners be stuck with 720? what are numbers on normal 360's to elites sold?
Any 360 owner can watch 1080p movies over component, and all Premiums and Elites from the last year or so have had HDMI.

@starcraft - i forgot to answer your digital downloads question. It can't be factored in as the top 20 in that is probably lower then HD-DVD's current top 20. Download speeds wont be enough for people to want digital movies for another 10 years when we have 1gbps download speeds.

thats the problem though for 360 owners, not all have the Falcon chipset in their consoles.
