This will take years for the Blu to overtake the market. Guess at least 3-4 years in the USA, 5-6 years in Europe. Don't know about japan.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Japan is much farther ahead in the Blu-ray vs DVD market. Its like 70/30 there. The EU its like 85/15. It is only America that is going to take forever due to the poor state of our economy.

this will be the first year with one format and well have them at cheaper prices lets see where it goes.
At this rate Blu Ray will never take over in the US before we see new consoles.
DVD took a pretty long time to usurp VHS too. Expect Blu-Ray to take a year or two more than it took DVD to beat out VHS.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Do you have a source for that?
Next week, with the release of 1408 and The Mist by Weinstein will mark the 1st time that all Major and Mini Major studios have released at least one Blu Ray movie, it's gonna take a while, but DVD will be phased out by Blu Ray and downloads will also become mainstream (though I believe most people will prefer owning the physical copy, downloads have a very good chance as an alternative for movie rentals).

nope, nothing at least of the alst 7 months at least. I have found more news on how fast Blu-ray killed HD-DVD in Japan. lol

I know recently a couple anime titles sold more than their SD DVD counterpart. But anime fans tend to adopt a new format faster than others.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
