Why haven't you used motion controls then? I think they work fine! 

I know a lot of people on here loved the motion controls in the first Splatoon but I could never get on with them in the first game but decided to give them a try again in the Splatfest and they still don't work for me. My natural position how I hold the controller has me facing the floor with motion controls on and I can't change to something whats comfy for me, After an hour I had a break come back and turned them off and my play improved so much :)

Because they are stupid, can't even look up and down with the stick when it's on. And cant really sit comfortably and use them. Eh shouldn't matter too much seeing as I mainly use stuff like Slosher, Brush etc.

I guess it's a matter of preferences in the end. I tried without motion controls at the beginning of the Splatfest and I felt... clumsy and awkward.

I *hate* Splatoon's motion controls. It's just so unnecessarily awkward with the right stick controlling some of it and motion the other parts. Honestly, makes no sense to me why they didn't at least include Breath of the Wild's motion control as an option, which imo is vastly superior.
