Where do you get the idea that there are no emotional or mental differences between males and females? Just because humanity has finally got over the idea that males are superior to females doesn't mean there are no differences between the sexes.

I never said there wasn't any difference. In fact, I've long since known what you just stated, but continuing that thought further, there is no Male/Female cookie cutter from which we are all created. People are INDIVIDUALS, not all women think the same, not all Men think the same. There are general similarities that are shared within each gender, but to say that "your mind is female if you think this way, and male if you think this way" is just absurd.

The only thing that decides whether you are male or female is what your DNA says; XY = Male, XX = Female. Just because you think more like the opposite gender, and maybe even have the same mental strengths and weaknesses, doesn't mean you should suddenly reject whichever body you happen to have. I know I think a HELL of a lot differently than most other guys, but that doesn't make me any less male. I've wondered myself what it would be like to give birth or be a woman, but that doesn't mean I feel the need to alter my body in order to find out.

I don't have 4 arms, I can't fly, I can't breath underwater, and I want to be able to have and do these things, but I accept the fact that I can't, even though stupid fish and birds and insect can and do have those things. I don't feel the need to alter my body to try to get those things. If I were to tell someone that I wanted to alter my body to have those things, the general reaction I'd get is that wanting that is unreasonable. Yet for some reason, if I want boobs and a vagina, and to be legally viewed as a woman even if I still can get other women pregnant, that can be done.

Furthermore, with this specific case, I DO see an issue with a woman stating that she thinks of herself as a man, yet decides to keep and use female reproductive organs. Women are both biologically and structurally designed for pregnancy and giving birth and guys are not. If I wanted to "experience" pregnancy, I'd do it secondhand by supporting my partner during her pregnancy, like any other guy can do.

If you want to be male, be male, both the advantages along with the limitations. Otherwise this cannot possibly come across as anything other than a woman who felt there was some advantage to being viewed as a guy, and didn't have the resolve to stand up to and break whatever societal limitations she felt where being placed on her for being a woman.

For some reason this scares me, it just seems odd to me why they gave the person who is the father of the baby instead of the wife.

Thats actually a damn good point.  It sort of goes against the gender dysphoria idea for her.  I mean if she really felt like she should of been a guy then why would she want to have a baby?  Sense, that does not make.
