Album of the Week: Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon (1993)

Now, this album is pretty cool I'd say. It has a particular atmosphere that many other albums don't have. They mixed black metal with ambient/electronic influences like many other bands have, but the guitar tone is still very traceable to Bathory, which gives it a difference to the Burzum clones that are out there. Not much else to say, other than that you should listen to it!!

Gotta say this is an interesting thread to go through. Btw was listening to a Rammstein, Eluveitie, and Amon Amarth mix when i stumbled on to this thread.

Thanks!! The community in this thread isn't all that big, but it's always nice to have people that enjoy it!

Some Gotsu Totsu Kotsu, a death metal band from Japan!! This song is actually very cool, I'll probably be listening to it a few more times today myself.

So, I didn't want to make this the album of the week as I already did a black metal album for last week, but just as I thought I was drifting out of heavy metal music, I decided to give this album another listen, and man, I really do enjoy this song!! Especially the part around 3 minutes in.

Arcturus

I hadn't listened to Arcturus in a while! That was a great listen. :D

One of those songs going strong in my playlist recently, Satyricon's latest!

Ahh, you've arrived!! I should really check out more Satyricon myself, I'm mainly familiar with Nemesis Divina.

Yeah, that album slays. They were a straight up Black Metal band but nowadays as you can listen from that latest track they are more Black N' Roll. Tight headbanging material. :D

Nice!! I haven't heard much black 'n roll myself, but I do like m some death 'n roll. I love Wolverine Blues, and despite not being all-too praised, I'm actually a big fan of Swansong by Carcass as well.

I like Satyricon a fair bit. Very good live. Old stuff is good but I prefer the newer stuff to be honest. Volcano is their best album in my opinion.
