Forums - Gaming - Sign in on Minecraft Switch requires Xbox Live ID

And just like that Ms starts her own Steam. Don't forget switch players to buy Minecraft on ''Windows 10 store i said again on 'windows 10 store" we have store also and we want to compete steam haha

That is huge man good catch

On origins or on ubi store you can register your IP, your psn name why don't here?
if Spencer say we want to know who you are, so basically you play like xb life player not like switch player?

On Rocket Legue i said again the game is huge on ps4 is become huge because of ps4 milions of player play it on ps4 why Sony must open to the few NS players and xbox
PS3 was open to pc and in the and they get a huge hack so for now Sony network is close and they don't care about few NS and xbox players is not like none play RL on ps4 right?

Yeah Sony were never going to allow something that results in their players signing up to a service owned by their biggest hardware rival.

Gaming consoles aside, don't Sony and Microsoft work together in other aspects? It kinda seems like they'd have to. Both are so big and have their hands in so many things.

They do but the console space is different.. Microsoft were super aggressive in their entry into console gaming and on their second attempt caught Sony off guard and gave them a real scare.  Ultimately they felt and now Sony is tightening it's hold on the market again but there's no chance Sony would approve something that would boost MS'S live numbers.  Especially since they love nothing more to brag about MAU'S in their PR.

Hahahahahahah

And saying no to Rocket League means an XBL sign in isn't their reason for denying cross platform play here, because Rocket League doesn't require one. So yeah, you're agreeing with me. Thanks!

lol what are you? Trump or something.

You claim that XBLA log in is not the reason, because if it was then Sony would allow cross play in RL.

I am claiming that your assumption is wrong: if XBLA login is truly the reason that wouldnt change a single thing about RL not having cross play. ie, RL would still not have cross play as you assume it would have.

So no, I dont agree with you. In fact, I think you are straight up wrong.

And yet, RL has no XBL log in and yet is still denied cross play with other consoles. 1 + 1 = 2. Hope that helps.

And lol @ people defending this. It's literally nothing but good things for RL and Minecraft users yet Sony feeds some BS and it's accepted. EA Access all over again :)

If I owned this game on PS4 I would be upset I could understand of sony did it just to avoid XBL but since they denied RL like others mentioned its not just that.

Cross play is awesome because if your friends have a different console you can still play togheter, consumers win.
Its very commen for the company thats ahead to be less consumer friendy mostly because the competition is trying to win back gamers.

Sony did it with the PS1 and PS3 really pushing boundaries hard and Phil Spencer and his team is all pro-consumer since he started as head of xbox, the reason why is obvious.

Anyway the greatest thing out of this story isn't about sony or microsoft. Its about nintendo just not caring about the XBL login and allowing their gamers on switch the best version of the game possible, by allowing crossplay, great job nintendo.

Sony want to sell an Xbox own IP and dont want to use there services to play it?
Maybe MS should just pull the plug on the PS versions.
Sony had no issues signing into Steam for Portal 2 for cross play.
Seems they just want to take and never give.
Arrogant at its best.

Not to mention rocket league... People need to realise Sony isn't your friend. Sony isn't a good guy. It's a business.

I have no real problem with no Minecraft crossplay though. It does promote the main competitor.

It's the same principle as with Minecraft. Microsofts crossplay push is the attempt to parasite. Period. How odd, that this subject emerges regarding two of the most well known online games of today. At exactly the same time. What a coinkydink.

Online multiplayer has become a crucial part of gaming and with their newest approach MS trys to remove a barrier, that might hinder people with the incentive to buy some new hardware with weird naming. Like a lousy cheat trying to reach the goal anyway but the honest and straightforward one.

Hunting Season is done...

Now we know the real reason why Sony doesnt want in. Its similar to the EA Access situation. Theres too much overlap with competing programs.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/story/minecraft-to-use-xbox-live-login-on-nintendo-switch/ar-BBCKO8K

'Minecraft' users will need an Xbox Live login to play online on the Nintendo Switch.

The sandbox video game will soon be receiving an update which unifies it across Xbox, PC, and Switch platforms, meaning players are able to play online with anyone, regardless of which console they use.

Unfortunately for Switch users, however, this means they will need an account with Xbox's online system Xbox Live before they can access the game's online features."

So Rocket League does not require Xbox Live, but this is the reason?
Care to explain...

Also, I do not think this is unfortunate for Switch users :) It is quite normal to have a Minecraft account (which will be the default Xbox Live one) to be able to play with others on different system, you need a unified account system... No matter if it is Xbox Live or not

Since when does Sony allow EA Access on PS4?

EA Access is available on Xbox One and Origin Access is for PC, but PS4 players aren't being left out. EA said there will be free trials for some of its games available on PS4 all week. These include Madden NFL 17FIFA 17Titanfall 2EA Sports UFC 2, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. PS4 owners with a copy of Star Wars Battlefront will have free access to all DLC maps and heroes for the duration of this event.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-2017-eaorigin-access-free-week-starts-now-inclu/1100-6450724/

Its probably just a short preview. The question is how they are implementing it. If Sony is doing marketing deals with EA, they might want to throw them a bone as well.

Yah basically, No :) They did not allow EA Access. This was just a promotion EA announced and they clearly said it was for a limited time only.

The rest is pure specullations.

Its a MS game. If MS want there Minecraft community on there network so be it. Sony want to sell PS4s and Minecraft yet dont want to use there network. Like i said before. MS should just pull the plug on Sony and say a stupid excuse like "Unfortunately with our latest patch being with Cross Play platforms, future patches cannot be applied to Minecraft versions without Cross Play"

That justifys this situation and will push Sony to make a choice, lose your Minecraft community over a silly arrogant buisness decision or just except the Network of the company who OWNS the game.

They did it with Steam last year. No excuse to not do it now. If Sony had a game selling on X1 and required me to sign into PSN i would have no issues.
