seriously- at this point Nintendo is probably make a decent amount just on 3DS system sales alone, as since 2011/2012 it's probably gotten a lot cheaper to make them. why would they cut off easy income from a system they don't have to do much with anymore?
and look at the release schedule, it's kind of getting quiet for 3DS. A rerelease of Pok Sun/Moon is a huge sign that Nintendo isn't putting huge focus on the 3DS but rather just wants to make easy money off of it while it's still around.
What I'm seeing around here is people who literally seem to want Reggie to say that the 3DS is dying in a year, when that would be crazy to announce (even if its likely true) when they're about to release a new 150$ model

Reggie at E3 2017:
"I would like to start the 3DS presentation by saying that the platform is dead and we won't make any significant game for it since Switch is all that matters right now. But please understand and keep buying a soon to be abandoned device. Now, let's look at the new 150 dollars model that I want you to buy, even if you really, really shouldn't"
That would make these people happy. The shareholders would be mad as hell, but forum people are the number 1 priority.
Well, they didn't confirmed Wii U's discontinuation until it was plainly obvious that the shipments were almost gone. Sony also never said anything about Vita. PS3 and 360 will also not last long but everybody is quiet. Nobody has a reason to announce this stuff until it really happens.
