Assassin's Creed Origins: PS4 Pro and Xbox One X comparison

No surprises to see that Assassin’s Creed Origins will be pretty much identical on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Ubisoft has reportedly said there’s no difference between the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of Assassin’s Creed Origins.

That’s according to a Tweet made by a journalist with WindowsCentral, who claimed that the French publishing giant told him that both versions of the game will be pretty much identical. We already know that the Xbox One X versions of Assassin’s Creed Origins will not run at a native 4K on Microsoft’s new console, although it does boast a significantly improved resolution over the standard version.

There’s been a lot of talk out of E3 regarding the power of the Xbox One X and its capabilities when compared to Sony’s high-end console. Microsoft was the first to sling mud at its competitor, claiming that it doesn’t see the PS4 Pro as a rival to its latest hardware, but rather the Xbox One S. That’s despite the fact Sony’s console offers 4K gaming while the S only offers the resolution bump on video content.

Furthermore, Sony has come under fire from gamers suggesting the format holder is forcing parity with Xbox One X games from a visual standpoint, something which the console maker has emphatically denied. It’s worth noting, though, that these accusations were in relation to titles where Sony has content deals in place (such as Destiny 2), and it’s worth pointing out that Origins does not have any sort of deal in place with PS4-exclusive content.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is scheduled for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on October 27, 2017. The game takes place in ancient egypt, and focuses on the founding of the titular Brotherhood, with players controlling a Medjay named Bayek as he seeks to liberate his homeland from corruption. Origins takes the series into true open-world RPG territory, and completely revamps a number of systems such as combat and exploration, with gamers able to call on their trusty eagle companion to scout out new areas for enemies and points of interest.

Stay tuned for more Assassin’s Creed Origins news as we get it.

And this is because of Checkerboarding technique. They will probably end up with a more stable frame rate running at 30 but only *if* they don't try and hike up the resolution. Which they'll have to, and when you use checker boarding and are trying to reach 4k the returns start to diminish.

Oh sweet parity..lol. lazy devs. no way xox should be identical to pro. lol

Praise the One.

Not bad for a non rival.

PS4 PRO = Xbox One x. The new Xbox does not make any sense, in my opinion.

the funny thing / fact is.. no exclusiv-game on xbox one x looks so amazing (graphic/details) like "Horizon Zero Dawn", "Uncharted 4" or the new "God of War". And 2018 coming "Death Stranding" or "The Last of Us 2" maybe.

I dont think thats what they mean. Theres a difference between "basically being the same" and having some differences. Most people cannot tell the difference between 4K native and upscaled from 2k ish (or whatever)... so they could be different but unless you are taking pictures of static screens you may not know theres a difference, but it could be 2x the resolution. Thats the benefit of checkerboarding, and the big problem MS are going to have distinguishing the X from the Pro. If you look at the differences between S and PS4, which has a biger tech gap its not a massive difference and when you chase resolution this high, the gap gets even smaller.

Obviously games will look and run better on XOX, but Origins didn't even look graphically impressive to me...

So in other words, mid gen upgrades are useless. They won't be taken seriously.
