lol @ starcraft they are both 512MB lol. Thats pretty low compared to PC's.

Thanks for being rational. However, I was talking about worldwide sales, based on the overall software sales according to this site's numbers.

In the U.S., yeah, folks buy games, but I know of at least two folks who bought a PS3, thought it played PS2 games (LOL) and have only bought Blu Rays. Even on highdefdigest.com, folks often talk about using the PS3 as a Blu Ray player only. And a lot of them are selling them for standalone Blu Ray players.

 ok, my bad on that one. I'm just trying to show that even though a lot of people are buying the PS3 as a Blu-ray player. (check out this review) Also, the fact that their are less PS3s will tend to skew the attach ratio toward that console. Based on how close the ratios are, I think we are safe to assume that most 360 and PS3 (primarily gaming) owners buy about the same number of games.



Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I didn't say all of the folks, but I'd guesstimate at least 30 percent of sales are from folks who want a cheap Blu Ray player and are moved into that direction. You doubt me? Go into Best Buy and ask for a Blu Ray player - the best one - and see where you end up. I can bet cash money they will take you to a PS3 pile.

The fact of the matter is - there's no denying the folks who buy a 360 are buying it for one reason. To game. Even the add-on gave the 360 HD playback, it was more of a distraction than a legit weapon to Blu Ray. Based on the handful of folks I have talked to, and we are talking about the folks were over 40, they said they wanted Blu Ray and the associates told them to buy a PS3.

The only real way to tell if the PS3 is really being bought as a console is to watch attach rates. It's just that simple.


 the attack rates are the same for each console. people buy ps3 for blu ray and games. in fact i will make a thread about that.

Absolutely. Thats one of the reasons I said Fable 2 will be bigger than Gears of War 2 for the 360.

So then we should be comparing MGS4 and Fable 2 for system selling potential, and then R2 to GeOW2? If we want to compare them all based on how well we think they'll do. That's an interesting take on things, I always see GeOW2 and MGS4 being compared.

Well people often forget that an awesome game wont always be a system seller. For example, I believe that Banjo Kazooie and Fable 2 will each push more systems than GeoW 2.

I also think that (if it turns out to be as good as Sony claims it is) LBP could sell more than R2 and K2 combined.

But at the end of the day, it's all speculation.

I should clarify.  If the game is good and Sony can stop it from turning out to be "hardcore-only," it will shift more consoles than R2 and K2 combined.
