Forums - Sony - Sony Responds to why Minecraft Isn't Cross play on PS4.

Err the company that makes a point to try and look out for kids didn't seem to have a problem with it.

That's what I was thinking, xD. Nintendo (probably the most family friendly console maker is on board) so this response is complete BS from Sony.

Ah yes, those little kids on the PlayStation shouldn't be conversing with the big boys that play the Switch!

LOL! Sony's not crossplaying with MS. I don't know why people are still begging for this. If you have a PS4, you should be good. If you don't own a PS4, then maybe it should be up to the platform holder of the console you own to expand their userbase.

I sure didn't hear much of this narrative last gen. I wonder why people are flip-flopping now?

nobody cares about cross play
only neogaf users are trying to make a big deal about it and still no one gives a fuck lol

Saying the truth would be worst.

This reminds me of the no mods of external assets with Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

Real reason: Sony is in a position of dominance and feels no need to make concessions that would please gamers and potentially help other consoles.

This sort of attitude tends to take hold whenever a company is on top or really thriving regardless of who they are lol

So you guys bragged about cross platform play with PC on some games and now you say PS4 only is better?  I see who is really flip-flopping.

That is not even remotely what I said. I say begging other console makers, especially ones with higher marketshare to crossplay with their rivals is a fairy tale. Minecraft is an anomaly. To be honest, I don't think Minecraft would even be on Playstation if Sony knew MS would buy the franchise. These companies play nice with each other sometimes, but Sony is keeping them at arms length. It is what it is.

Translation: We want for kid to have to buy our system to play with his friends rather than stick with a competitor.

Its simple, easy, and reasonable.

So....

Pre-launch: Friend to all gamers.

Post-launch: Muwahahaha.

Sony has been pretty good in the past, but they're certainly not immune to occasionally "feeling themselves" and acting against the interests of gamers in favor of their bottom line when times are really good. The others do this too, but as they're currently both looking up at the PS4 it's Nintendo and Microsoft that have to make concessions to win gamers over.

I don't know if they actually say "Muwahahaha", but I imagine of a few of thing are grinning as they think it :D
