It's funny and ironic to see the people trying to defend Sony for this when now the PS4 version of Minecraft won't be receiving the new update at all because of their decision, which means that not only will cross-play not be on PS4 but EVERYTHING in the new update won't be on PS4 including the new graphics pack, new servers/server browser and server options, larger amounts of players in a server, 4K update, etc.

They mention here how only the systems that support cross-play will be getting the update and all its features. So for the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, all the systems that support cross-play and more, they'll just be simply known as "Minecraft" from now on. Not any specific edition such as Minecraft: Xbox One edition or anything. PS4 isn't included in that now, it's its own isolated version now. 

So the only way I can see those features going to the PS4 is if they make a seperate update to put those on PS4 that doesn't include cross-play (if they even bother to do that since the update seems heavily focused on cross-play as the main thing), but as of right now the update and any of its new features are not hitting PS4 at all it seems.

So you're basically celebrating the fact that Sony has now made Minecraft on PS4 potentially the worst place to play it on out of all the current big consoles because of how outdated it's going to be compared to the other versions. Have fun with that, since you apparently love Sony's decision so much lol. Continue trying to defend Sony for making decisions like this while ironically not realizing they're screwing you over if you like to play Minecraft on PS4, and you're also screwing yourselves over by defending them no matter what.

The companies when they are at the top seem to really think their base is dumb and can't understand the real reason. Just say it the way it should be said:We want people to buy ps4s even if they don't like our exclusives just to play online with their friends. We don't care about non ps4 gamers.
Seriously I get they are a business but no. 1 companies always act arrogant and like they are all that. That's why Sony can keep their no.2 spot. No.1 ninty is no good but no.)2 ninty is the best. Sony can SCT as stuck up as it likes who cares about playing with their gamers. If they don't want to, then just forget about them

Defending? PS4 now gets the worst version of Minecraft due to this. You know it's not just about Minecraft though, people want the floodgates opened. If you do these titles, then they'll want them all. I'm just saying why it's not going to happen. Crossplay begging has now becoming worse than port begging, since one is more realistic.

Yeah I've seen plenty of player stats this gen to back it up but I'm just not willing to put in the leg work to prove it to you.  If you care enough,  you can research it yourself.

Cross play begging has quickly over taken port begging. People really want access to that massive pool of ps4 players but unless you're on pc you have no chance of playing with us. 

I feel like you are going to lose that pool of PC players.

Why would they crossplay with PS4 players now? They would want the ULTRA HD HIGH TEXTURE GRAPHICS pack or whatever they are calling it. Thus if they have that downloaded and installed, they would then crossplay with Xbox/Switch/handheld/Tablet people.

I've heard that there's a big troublemaker on Miiverse called Yosp who got banned multiple times for posting inapropriate content. Sony is doing the right thing by keeping its userbase away from rotten apples like him.
