Forums - Gaming - Has Microsoft given up? do they have any fight left in them?

Is microsoft fighting back?

Their trying their best 50 22.52%

As long as it doesnt co$t them, sure. 51 22.97%

They gave up 121 54.50%

Total:222

Why am I asking this? well in another thread someone wrote "I like where xbox looks to be heading"... and I couldnt help but think of all the bad "rate xbox e3" scores in the thread about it, plus we got a "Im starting to give up on phil.." thread.

Theres a thread like that on neogaf called "I thought the Xbox show was fine, despite things missing. I'm a little worried though".

In that thread, theres a few pictures that are being massively qouted.

They are these:

It looks like Microsoft is "stepping" down in terms of software output.

With the games cancelled (such as scalebound) and them closeing down the studio that does Fable, along with priceing the Xbox One X at 499$... and software output going down each new E3......

Does Microsoft still have any fight left in them?

Thats what I wanted to ask.

Is this going to be the new "NX" replacement? MS is slowly but surely leaving the console business, not videogames industry though. MS is gearing up to be something like Steam. This requires MS to not need 1st party developers. They will probably keep the Halo studio and thats it. The rest of their IP's will be licensed out - For example they have a partnership with SEGA to have them maintain Halo Wars.

Pricing the XBOX X at 499 is fine. Its a enthusiast console like the NEOGEO. Its not meant to compete with anything. Its just to entice 3rd parties to not completely abandon XBOX.

If they're trying to do this via the Microsoft App store, they WILL fail. Most developers have no interest in the app store and unless MS starts shivelling money their way, that's not going to change.

They just had one of they're best E3s ever, games games games.

Sorry nvm true exclusives are the only real games that matter

I think its fair. 3rd party multiplats count too.

Its just... those games are also on playstation/switch/pc whatever.

It probably wont have a big impact for MS, imo atleast.

Goodness me, another Microsoft bashing thread. They have their weak points but they put a really good press conference. Why are you guys always concern trolling when you don't really care about their products. Heck i am not interested in buying an Xbone S or X but i can appreciate them trying to some degree.

They're releasing an expensive console this year, the most powerful console ever.

Clearly exiting console business, no fight left confirmed.

LOL

They're releasing a new console. I'm sure games will come. I think they'll show out at Gamescom and E3 2018 with new IP and VR. This was not the time for all that imo. Launch the console, show investment into more diverse games and original ideas, and grow the brand beyond Halo and Gears. I think Microsoft succeeded, and honestly, I was very glad to see way less shooters and more games with innovative gameplay. Indies or not, i think Microsoft succeeded on those fronts and did something completely unexpected.

Stating facts and raising concern isn't trolling, don't be a sook.

The most powerful console... with no exclusives. The Xbox One X could as well not exist for the complete lack of effort on MS' software side. The PS4 Pro might be less powerful, but it and the NX will vastly outsell the Xbox One X on software.

Xbox. Leaving the console business since 2001 according to a certain group
