Then the time when SF2, MK, Tekken, Soul Edge/Calibur hit the shelves was the age of diamond encrusted platinum master sword. I guess.

You have mentioned it twice now, it counts :)
You forgot about Arms!
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

All those games and no Smash Bros..... but yeah 90s were much better for actually having good fighting games

No it doesn't. *point blank RPG blast to your face* |
*blink blink* Well then. I stand corrected.
It's definitly a resurgence... and i could go with golden age in terms of the gameplay. OG SF2 and MK were extremely clunky. Think are much more fluid now.
We are still direly missing Capcom vs SNK 3 though!
Modern fighting games have too many DLC characters, and are not complete enough on release. Just look at SFV, KI, and Injustice 2.
A lot of modern fighting games are also overly technical, and require plank time level of button inputs to play at a competitive level.
So 90's win by a landslide.

I cam to say that the golden age of fighting games happened during that era. :P |
And clayfighter. Never forget clayfighter.
