Forums - Gaming - September on the 360... Not fair!

It may be unwise to underestimate Nintendo's franchises, after all previous Mario and Metroid Prime games have each won various "Game of the Year" awards, and Super Smash Brothers is one of the best selling fighting games ever. I'm not saying they'll win of course, but I am saying that you still shouldn't underestimate their potential.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Mario is not gonna be the critical game of the year, it's between Halo 3 and GTA IV and that's a fact. Sales are also gonna be the highest for those two games. But I am still sure, Mass Effect and Halo 3 don't come out the same month at all...

Nope. GotY sales wise, I am assuming that is what you are referring to, will be PokemonD/P. Beyond that, Halo3 or GTAIV, remember GTAIV will have two sales bases to work off of, whereas Halo3 will only have 360's. That gives GTAIV an extra 7m+ users by end of year.

If SMG is as good as it's being made out to be... if it's the true successor to Mario 64... if Nintendo finally gets their Mario act back together after over 10 years of nothing but a squirt gun attachment... Nothing else stands a chance. You can't call GOTY until you've seen all the games. It's just how it goes.

I said critical as in what the critics will think, review scores. Sales-wise if you count both handheld and console games then yes Pokemon will be the best seller this year.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I just looked at this for the September schedule (and late August):

8/21 - Bioshock
9/3 - Mass Effect
9/11 - Eternal Sonata
9/25 - Halo
9/25 - Assassin's Creed

Five weeks of hell. No freakin' way will my wife let me buy that many games in a five week period.

CANT WAIT TO GET MY 360!!!!

360 lineup is pretty good - pity MS couldn't space it out a little more. Titles *usually* lose out on sales when so many good titles are released in a row (and its not even Xmas - and probably too early for Xmas buying!). I think "Eternal Sonata" is going to be more a niche title - not sure how well these games would sell on the 360. Also think Bioshock will suffer a little sales-wise (also coming on PC, right?). Mass Effect & Halo are the big guns, Assassins Creed is still an unknown to me. It could be massive, or just solid (sales-perspective).

I think it might be overly optimistic to think that MS will be making $150 a console by September. Still at that point it will have been about 2 years, almost every console I can remember has done a price drop by at least the third holiday on the market.  They might milk the people who would spend $400 for that lineup, drop it a couple weeks later and get the new buyers to buy that software anyway.

And microsoft STILL isn't profitable, with its 360. Even with software, they still can't see any black. Microsoft suuuuccccckkkkkssss...
