I've never played either. You know I really hate it when people say "I was born in the wrong generation! I wish I could have grown up in the 80's!" But honestly sometimes I wish I was like 37, so I could experience the SNES/Genesis, PS1/N64, and the 6th gen. Not necessarily to become crabby or hate on modern gaming or to play "De best gamus evar!!!" but just to have more perspective on gaming as a whole.

That being said, Xbox 360.

Hey, I'm only 2 years older than you, but I got plenty of play time on the Sega Genesis and PS1.

Well as someone who played those systems, there is something to be said about experiencing certain games for the first time, like Mario 64 and Zelda OOT.
I realize that those games don't hold up today as well as back in the day, and especially when you take into consideration how amazing it was to see those games in 3D for the first time, when previously you only saw them in 2D. That can probably not be appreciated by people today who started off with 3D gaming.

That said, I'm sure there are some games from the later console generations that "newer" players enjoyed in a different way than I did because it was their first experience with certain concepts, that for me were more familiar.

Yep, it's sad really! I wish I could have everyone's perspective D : But mostly the 4th-6th gen one, just cause of all the revolutions.

There were games that blew my mind, but again most of these are games who's franchises started way earlier. So that affect wouldn't be lost on older generations.

I have played 3 N64 titles, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Banjo Kazooie. The last two are some of my favorite games. The former is very overrated but still good.

Well I grew up with a Wii, which was just the party game machine. I didn't grow up with old games. I didn't even have a concept of gaming as a whole till 2010.

2010? When you were 10? Why so late?

I don't know. I mean I played Spore and Zoo Tycoon on PC as a kid too but ... I didn't even start using the internet until I played Halo Reach.

N64. Banjo, goldeneye, perfect dark, turok 2 etc etc. However i had a psx and games like metal gear solid and gran turismo were also fantastic. I just put N64 above due to better in game graphics and awesome 4 player split screen fps.

It's not close, PS1.  Truck loads of excellent games.

N64 was left over tech that everyone else passed on, and then Nintendo wanted cartridges.  Just wasnt a well thought out console, although it had a few classic games.

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda. Nice to hear you liked it. It has the same aged gameplay as OOT (although improved in many areas) so I imagine it can be a bit hard to get into these days, even if you play the 3DS version. Though what really stood out about MM to me was the atmosphere and the NPC quests.
My second favorite is Link's Awakening for similar reasons. But I've only played halfway through Twilight Princess, and haven't played Skyward, Wind Waker, or Breath of the Wild. So I have some catching up to do.

The sad thing about the 5th gen in particular is that because 3D technology was so new, many games don't hold up well today. Especially some of the early ones, that in some cases looked drastically better in future itterations on the same console. While if you go back to the 4th generation, you can still find many examples of 2D games, like Chrono Trigger, that still hold up really well today imo unless you just don't like 2D graphics.

But since we're on the subject, one 5th gen classic I would recommend checking out is Castlevania Symphony of the Night. Still fun playing to this day.

Don't think that game is on a modern platform but i'll check

Get to Wind Waker and BOTW! They're 2nd and 3rd : D I still have catching up to do myself

PS1 has good games, N64 has GEMS! N64 for me!
