Historically you are correct. Koreans love their PCs, but I think the Wii offers something significantly different than PC type games (Wii Sports...) which will make a big difference. I expect it to be nearly as successful there as it is in other markets. |
I dont' think so, I just dont' think it fits in with Korean lifestyle. The DS is very successful because it's something people can do on trains or breaks from school. People just don't spend that munch time at home, and most of their gaming takes place on the rroad or at a PC bang, the place where you pay per hour to play games. Also Korea's preference in games is competitive games, shooters, strategy games, and MMOS, honestly not something that the Wii excels at. |
You may be right, and I'm no Korean expert, but NA was reknown for having a preference for those same game-types (and still does amoungst traditional gamers) but Wii expanded the audience and found huge success. I feel the same is possible for Wii in Korea. Let's face it, (almost) no one expected Wii to succeed in any market for similar reasons originally. |
why are you comparing NA to Korea? NA loves consoles more than anyone, in fact i think NA is the only place that prefers consoles over handhelds. Nintendo consoles have always been successful in NA even when they fail in other parts of the world. The issue with korea is they just don't want to play consoles, certainly dont' want to buy them.
