Lol wii u owners wished they had some of those 3rd party games.

They are far less popular than 3rd party games, this list proves that. Sony released 15 1st party games and only 3 of them managed to break in top 30 best selling PS4 games.

I don't think it's so simple. Wii U had amazing games with very solid numbers, like Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros and we know how that ended... More than 15 first party along multiplat, that's the key.

Sony actually has competition on their consoles. PlayStation is basically the default console you buy to play most of the biggest games on. Theres not really any must have titles that everyone has to buy to make the console worth it. People buy it for many different reasons.

So? That just means that 3rd party games are very strong. It's no news that 3rd party games generally sell very well on Sony platforms. I don't see what that has to do with the popularity of Sony games. Do you think that popularity is a finite resource and if 3rd party games are popular, 1st party games are not? That's silly.

Is that the point of this thread? Telling people that 3rd party games sell well on PS4? Sorry to break it to you, but that's not news or thread worthy.

Agree, people who want GTA, Fifa, CoD, Star Wars, Battlefield...are defaultly buying PS4, even without 1st party games PS4 would still had great sales, PS4 1st party games are just nice addition, same goes for XB1. And that completely opposite to Nintendo consoles were people buying Nintendo console on 1st place because Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Splatoon....and where 3rd party games are nice addition.

At the end of the day, Uncharted Collection, TLOU:R, Uncharted 4, Horizon, TLOU 2, God of War and Gran Turismo Sport will all be 5m+ sellers.

Hell Spider-Man, Day's Gone and even Crash have a chance.

when you have the biggest console library by far, the most games in the console generation, all the biggest publishers releasing games on your platform, you are going to have a lot of competition for your games. Sony had a lot of successful and profitable software. UC4, Horizon, Bloodborne, Killzone SF, Infamous Second Son, Infamous First light, Until Dawn, Ratchet and Clank are some of those. with huge hitters like GoW, TLoU and Gran Turismo on the way.

and just remember, the biggest first party game this console generation is on PS4. so yeah.

That's true only if you don't include 3DS, because if you do, 7-8 1st party games outsold UE4 on PS4. If you include only home consoles, it would be very odd that PS4 doesnt have best selling 1st party game because it has double bigger instal base than XB1, 4-5x bigger instal base than Wii U and more than 10x bigger instal base than Switch.

You dont need attach rate (but attach rate is legitimate point) this list tells us how much popular are PS4 1st party games.

this list says shit, as its not accurate as VGC numbers arent. as it doesnt include digital, which is a huge portion of games sold, and your whole point is rather nonsensical and based on irrelevant data.

 

@ bolded: its not, and its a stupid way to measure the success of a game. GTA released on PS4 (60M), PS3 (85M~), 360 (85~), XB1 (30M~) and PC (steam has 40MAU). so GTA5 has a 26% attatch rate, compare that to zelda's 95% or what ever. guess Zelda > GTA5, right? right? attatch rates says so!

 

but if we use just a bit of logic, just a tiny bit mind you, you can see that GTA5 is more successfull than the entire zelda franchise. so yeah, attatch rate means shit.

You can buy 1st party and 3rd party games digitally also, so if list is not accurate it goes in both directions, for 1st party and 3rd party.

That attach rate says that Zelda BotW currently is more popular on Switch than GTAV is on any other platform, that doesnt mean it sold better, just that has better attach rate. When you comparing attach rate on difrent platforms you need to include instal base, there is reason why every 3rd party game sold better on PS4 than it is on XB1, that because PS4 has twice bigger instal base. So if you comparing attach rate of GTAV on PS4 on XB1 offcourse you need to include instal base, offcourse you dont need instal base for comparison on same platform.
