I did not expect this thread to be so negative on this. Personally, as someone that enjoyed Sonic Unleashed (day stages and day bosses only, and only when played as a mod to Sonic Generation with the exception of the bosses which can only be played on consoles), Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, I think this game is right up my alley. I am not too into character customization, but being able to explore levels in different ways through different character-specific skills is what made me like Sonic 3 & Knuckles and the Sonic Advance games, so I am glad they are bringing this element back (I hope it is not like the 3D Sonic games where each character type gets their own specific stage or goal; but rather I would like for characters to give a new perspective to Sonic's main levels like they did in the original games). I am frankly excited for both this and Sonic Mania.

It's not a matter of mechanics (although in recent Sonic games new mechanics have tended to derail the core gameplay), it's a matter of fanbase. The Sonic fanbase is notorious for... reasons... so giving them this gimmick is nothing short of terrifying (Sonichu speedruns. All of them cringy).

So each species will have unique abilities and there's a variety of gadgets to choose from, that's pretty sweet! I've never been interested in OCs, and really that's still not changing, but Dolphian the Blue Bird is gonna become a reality!

No cost, this is only a positive. Now that we know the third gameplay style isn't another werehog type situation, we can rest assured that the game will be good.

I think people are being a bit narrowminded about the intentions for the custom character. Yes, it appeals to the "deviant" Sonic fans, but if you look at the setting iits also loosely tied to the comics. Also the modding community on Generations probably pushed them to do this.

I'm largely joking. Just feeding off the negative vibes of this thread XD. Am so tempted to to bump my thread for the giggles.

Wow I don't know about other people here that are edgy and cool to hate this but the game seems really fun and exciting to me. Only problem is I have a limited Budger and have to choose wisely because o can only afford about 4 games a year or so
