The bar is quiet. My client is... somewhere... So yeah...
As a lot of you are aware, I have two jobs. One as a caregiver for special needs people and another as a caregiver for the elderly. For the elderly I have a uniform: dark blue polo, kaki's, and a name tag. This creates, minor, albeit annoying, situations.
So I often go grocery shopping, and people tend to ignore that I'm assisting my client and will ask me where certain things are. This isn't normally an issue but my current client is a high risk fall victim that needs all of my attention. Of course, I can't blame people for not knowing but this week alone I've had 4 people think I worked for a few different stores. Some angry, some just wanting to know something:
Ex 1: "Um, excuse me, could you open up another register? I'm in a hurry and need to get out of here quick."
Me: "Oh no, I, uh, don't actually work here! I'm a senior caregiver!"
Her: "Oh! I'm so sorry!" *looks at my client* "Sorry I almost stole him from you!"
Ex 2: "Hey!"
Me: "Um, hello."
Him: "Yeah, what the fuck is your stores problem? I've been getting nothing but shitty service all day trying to return this *holding a big vacuum box* and all of you guys are being fucking assholes. You a manager?"
Me: "Uh, no, I don't work here. I take care of elderly people."
Him: *looks at my nametag and realizes his mistake* "Oh shit! Sorry man! Aight, well you have a good day then!"
