I bought into the hype and picked up SSBB. Played the N64 game once, thought it was ok, never checked out the Cube game. Decided to buy this one based on the great reviews, the current sales and alot of hyped up posts on this forum. Boy am I disapointed. It's got alot of polish I suppose but I just don't get it. This game isn't fun to me, I played it for 30 minutes and may very well not ever put it back in my Wii. I thought Powerstone was MUCH better. Maybe I should try the online, although I was playing it with a buddy. Anyone else like me and just do not understand all the love for SSBB?

Eh, maybe the game just isn't for you.  That's fair enough as not everyone will like every game or genre. 

I hope you're prepared to get insulted for that opinion though.  Most people get upset when others criticize things they really like.

The great thing about smash bros games is playing with your friends in the multiplayer. Subspace emisary is fun but not that great. You should try playing with three other friends in the room and see how much fun you have.

I feel the same, Im a big Nintendo fan and I never got into smash bros or melee. But I also got sucked in by the hype for this and its still the same game. If you dont like the previous title, you wont like this one much better.

Its a good game, I just dont get into it, No More Heroes is much more fun.

Not everyone is going to like every game, and its certainly fair to have your reservations about it.

Suffice to say, if you don't care for Soul Calibur 3 you probably won't like Soul Calibur 4. If you didn't like Halo and Halo 2 then you're probably aren't going to like Halo 3. And so forth and so forth.

I know Sub Space Emissaries made many believe there would be a new valued asset to this game that would help it transcend the genre of its predicessors, but alas, at its core its the same game basically albeit much improved. Alot of fans were expecting more in terms of overall grandeur, but that's just the price to be payed when too much hype is built up by the fans.

To fully appreciate Smash Bros, you need to know how to play Smash Bros. You can pick it up and play without really knowing anything, but it only becomes great once the mechanics become second nature. You can't play it like a traditional fighter. It's more about timing and stage control rather than learning complicated button combos. You have to be aware of your surroundings and how to take advantage of situations. This is why some people pass it off as a button masher. They don't give it enough time to fully understand the depth and faster pace of the game.
