That already exists (well apart from the open world part). It's basically the whole point of the Empires versions

Now imagine Empires with open world... We might even get that after the main game is finished!

It seems it will come out this year for Japan, which seems like a good timeframe. Holiday release would be nice.

Omega Force is a workhorse though, and they have been at it for awhile.

That's true, though most of those are rehashes, ports or recycling of assets and slapping on a new load of paint. Dynasty Warriors 9 is on a new Engine and being built from the ground up. I just hope it's not a rush job like Dynasty Warriors 6. They need to back themselves and give this title everything.
