OK thanks to you guys i have been working on my drifting BUT I just wanted to share one video of me trying to play an online game of mario kart 8 deluxe..

From watching that video my tip would be to use your items more logically. Don't throw all your bananas away as they can be used as a shield, such as when all those people bumped into you right after you threw them. (Plus, you ran into one of them the second lap.) Try to use mushroom boosts at strategic points to cut through grass instead of blasting them off one after the other as well. That should help some.

But better job at using some boost charges.

To add to NintendoPie's post:
1. Do more drifting, even on turns that aren't that sharp.
2. When you have a golden mushroom, spam it as much as possible. You only used it a few times meaning you didn't get the most out of it you could have.
3. When driving off of a ramp, if you jump at the last instant, you get a small speed boost. Use this to keep your speed up.
