I think Thomas is out for the rest of the playoffs just like Tony Parker for the Spurs.

Yeah but what if they can pull another miracle in game 4? And then thomas returns for the rest of the series? It would be very interesting thats for sure. |
But you're also hoping LeBron plays like tonight again in Game 4. Where he is right now in his career, its unlikely. LeBron knows he played bad today (or yesterday since its the 22nd) and he'll go through the film and figure it out like any great player. It was a bad night, even great players have that in them in the playoffs. Its great that Kyrie and Love were able play well, but they need LeBron to be at least on his B-game to be able to win against Boston. If he goes back to who he was in games 1 and 2, then you will have to pray. Plus, you have to hope guys like Marcus Smart continues to shoot well like they did in the second half. That bounce Bradley got to win the game may not go in their favor next time. Not trying to be a hater or an anti-Celtic, just saying that you don't know where the ball will roll next time.

No, the Cavs are not. 96, 97, and 98 Bulls had three hall of fame players leading. Bill Walton and Kevin McHale backed up Larry Bird. The Lakers with Kobe had multiple seasons with teams that had that 2 or 3 future-hall-of-famer lead. That's actually the standard NBA dynasty formula, has been since the early 60s. The Warriors are anomolous, not the Cavs. As for what's wrong with the league, it's a combination of a lot of things. A couple of would-be-contenders didn't pan out, like the Indiana Pacers. Some contender teams broke appart for no good reason like the Thunder. The Lakers are in a rebuilding period. But it's also just the fact that the Cavs and Warriors are exceptional. I mean, regular season back in Jordan's days everyone knew who would win the East, it was never even a question. And the Lakers-Celtics rivalries of the 60s and 80s were similar, with two teams almost always destined to meet in the finals. Periods like this just happen. Plus the playoffs have been less exciting in the east because let's face it, the Celtics might be number 1 but everyone knew that the playoff Cavs ain't the regular season Cavs. |
People forget the West in the 80s was relatively watered down, no one but Houston was able to even get past the Lakers to go to the Finals during the 80s. And the one in '86 was when Ralph Sampson threw up a prayer of a shot (shooting behind him) to barely eliminate the Lakers in the Conference Finals.
And to be fair, the East being bad isn't LeBron's fault. The Sixers have bad luck and had bad management, the Hornets can't get enough talent with Kemba (who's an All-Star, but not necessarily one to revolve a team around to be a contender), the Pacers are a small market even with Paul George, the Raptors don't have enough shooting and Lowrey is injured prone, the Wizards have talent...but mostly in their starting lineup, the Bulls are a mess, even if they surprise us, the Heat are good, but young, the Knicks are...the Knicks, the Nets are...the Nets, etc. LeBron went to a terrible, but young and talented Cavs team and helped turn around careers of Thompson, Irving, and Love, who were great talents but struggled with their respective teams pre-Return.
Warriors sweep the Spurs 4-0 to win the WCF. 8 day rest leading up to the NBA Finals.
Well that was predictable. Without Kawhi, they had no chance. Shame, it looked like it could have been a series before he got injured.
Cavs versus Celtics will be an interesting Game 4. Celtics without Thomas are stronger defensively stronger. Thomas lack of height at 5'9 makes him look like a little boy against big strong men. Thomas is not going to stop guys 6 to 12+ inches taller than him with 50 to 100+ pound weight advantages.
Manu Ginobli has all but retired from the NBA. 15 NBA seasons and part of the legendary trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli won 4 NBA championships(2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014). He lead an Argentine team to beat the US for the Olympic Gold medal at Athens 2004
Cavs need to get their crap together. They are better than this. I'm getting he same feeling from them as from the Warriors back in 2015 finals where they became complacent cause they though everything was going to be easy after Irving went down. Even without Thomas, the Celtics are an NBA Conference Finals team.
Well they pulled it together as the game went on. Hopefully these games were a wakeup call. Can't go into the Finals with a whatever attitude.
