Forums - General - What do you do to help with depression/anxiety/low morale?

You seem like a smart person. I'm sure you will ace that exam. Believe in yourself. Its important stuff, but its not the end of the world.

Its good to be nervous about stuff. It means you care.

Thanks! I appreciate it.

There is nothing you can do to easily or quickly fix that.

Though exercise is a good idea, the problem is that most people lack the motivation to keep going after the first couple of weeks. The gym is the very first thing you quit when you're pressured. I'd say try to do a group activity/sport. That way you don't only think about the exercise, but also about the people you'll do it with. And if you miss a training/meeting people may notice and call you to see what happened. So, it'll be much harder to skip.

Recreational volleyball is the first thing that comes to mind. But there are more groups/sports that you, personally, may find closer to your tastes. I once tried squash with some teammates from another sport and it brought us much closer. Wednesday became my favourite day of the week, not so much because of the actual sport, but because of the people there.

I guess that's another huge issue. I've had many problems with anxiety over the years, to the point that I've blocked out all friends and isolated myself.

This is a slightly bigger life choice but I promise it can help... I don't know what your work situation is, but you might want to take some random job even if only for a few hours a week. I used that tactic just to make myself get out of the apartment more often, and you'll usually develop at least a couple of new friends from which new social circles can blossom. You just need to open yourself up to it.

Even if you don't, though, just having that new routine and being showered, dressed properly, and out around people can do a lot for your mental state. Just something to consider.

The job that I'm going to today, I just started last week. It's a loader at Lowe's, which means I'll have to do some physical exercise! Hopefully I can be friendly to the people there, I'm worried that I'll be physically unfit for the job and get fired.

Lots and lots of masturbating. I can't even remember when was the last time I was seriously depressed.

I probably already do too much of that!

My step dad wanted me to play soccer with him on weekdays, but I'd unfortunately chicken out.

If you have time to type this and are still anxious you're probably not doing it enough.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I spend time with adorable animals.

I have two cats. Unfortunately, one is a grumpy, fat and asocial cat! The other one's nice, though!

I'm at school studying right now, no way I'm going to do it in the computer lab!

Eat some snacks? They are great when you are feeling stressed.

I guess I can do that in a few hours, I have a Tim Hortons gift card.

Eat away!
