Depends what you define as "work."  It also depends on what (if anything) Microsoft paid for this.  I'm just impressed that for whatever reason, they got EA to back down from a simultaneous multi-platform release.  Thats not exactly a common occurence.

Basically it will be interesting to see if there is a 360 sales boost when Rockband comes out. 

 It will probably help a little, like the recent Europe price cut. Just not a lot.

All Microsoft needs to do in Europe is remain relevant (relative to the PS3) whilst the Wii kicks both HD console's butts.  As long as they do that, it will be eighteen months or even two full years before the PS3 catches the 360, and even longer before it catches it in "western regions."

At that stage, the next console for Microsoft will be announced (and a year from release), and the Nintendo and Sony consoles will be a year behind at most.  Essentially the reason we care about console sales is because of games.  Unless the PS3 absolutely starts to dominate Europe (including the Wii), it won't gain any exclusives from it's extra sales this gen that it wouldn't already have received.  At best it will make a few possible 360 exclusives go multi-platform.

If this is true then i imagine MS spent over 50 million just to get this exclusive. Im pulling numbers out my ass but itd take a large sum to persuade EA to ignore the wii, ps2 and 3. MS is spending so much money with little to show for.

Yet another EA mistake with Rock Band. First, no wii title. Then a gimped wii title. Now a 360 timed exclusive in Europe. Exactly how much money are they wanting to NOT make?

A price drop didn't help them beat PS3 and this won't either ....

I don't see this doing ms any good, I see it really pissing alot of people off, but I don't see it doing any good what so ever.

I don't think the makers give a crap about MS and if MS want to flash millions to put the game out in a continent where their console is only popular in one country. Then good for them wasting the money.

As far as the bands that provide the music and the makers would like, releasing it on all systems = money for them.
I do not think the record labels would like it one bit.
