Forums - Gaming - Nier Automata is the best Platinum game to date and the best game this generation

I disagree.

-Characters don't lip sync or even move their lips
-9S is glitching all over the place.
-Camera angles make navigation a chore
-Invisible walls block places 2B should be able to go through
-aside from some great character models, the environments are bland and boring with poor textures

Combat is great, though. Maybe I just don't get it but, after six hours of trying to convince myself I was enjoying this game, I admitted to myself that I just wasn't into it.

I haven't played Bayonetta 2 and Nier. I have played a bit fo Bayonetta 2 and from what my friend said after playing the game it had the same strengths and weaknesses of other Platinum games, so I probably would disagree on that point with you. In my opinion level design, pacing and gameplay variety are just as important as combat even in a hack and slash game.

I stand by my opinion. You can disagree and I know there is a huge ND fanbase that is not willing to accept that their god isn't quite godly in terms of making video games, but this is my opinion on those games. I do like their games but they are not quite the masterpieces they are made out to be.

And as you haven't played Nier you probably wouldn't understand me anyways.

I'm talking about all Platinum games. So Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising and Vanquish as well and you can also add all Hideki Kamiya games like Devil May Cry 1 and 3.

1 - Why do you constantly need to use hyperboles to try and make a point. ND has their week points just like every development team out there. Nobody is questioning that. When it comes to storytelling I think TLoU prooves well enough that they are constantly evolving and moving ahead, so thats good for them. But why even compare it with Nier Automata? The game is nothing like what ND usually makes, and the story/setting is also on the oposite site of the spectrum. Apples to oranges, and for what reason? There are plenty of games you could have used to make a clear comparison but decided not to do it and presented it in a manner that could easily be considered insulting for a certain fanbase.

2 - I did try the demo, and if it is not representative of the quality of the game, than that is Platinum's fault not mine. I was fairly impressed by it, but there are simply way to many games comming out and I have a way to large backlog to actually invest time and money into it.

I'm not looking down on their fanbase, but its true that they are overprotective of Naughty Dog you can criticise just about any developer on this website without fear of backlash but that's just not the case with Naughty Dog. That's why they often don't get the criticism they deserve.

I'm a huge PlayStation fan but I'm not fond of Naughty Dog's fanbase. ABck in the day if you dared criticise TLOU you would got a plethora of insults targetted at you regardless of which website you were in. That's not good for anyone. Naughty Dog deserves some criticism for how they just straight up take Hollywood plots without even bothering to alter it in their games and actually get praised for it and while Nier's story wasn't regarded as highly by most reviewers even though its worlds better. Just because it is different from Naughty Dog's games doesn't mean they can't be compared with one another. That happens often in every media.

Even if I wan't comparing them, I still consider their games to have terrible stories. And the thing is I can't convince you to play Nier Automata but you also can't really have a view on this comparison as you've not played the game.

What platinum games have actually come out this generation?
Ninja turtles, Transformers, and scalebound?

Great game. Not the best game this generation. Still good though.

Well.. Bayonetta 2 came out this generation...

Uncharted is supposed to be a modern take on pulp fiction adventure novels. Criticizing something that's supposed to be cliche for being cliche is ... odd. It's like criticizing a sci-fi game for being sci-fi.

Personally, I have a really hard time trusting Platinum games. I want to like Automata (since the subject matter does not come from Platinum) but they have a history of poor games built around good combat. I disliked pretty much everything about Bayonetta except the actual combat mechanics.

It's a game I will probably buy when it's cheap.

Sometimes I play a game and it just resonates with me. Is akin to a religious experience and I want to tell the world how awe inspiring it is. Unfortunately, the world often doesn't value what I value. Saying "I like this and you're wrong for liking something different" usually doesn't sit well with people. It actually makes them want to disagree with you.

Nier remembers me everytime what i liked in Metal Gear Solid games but V. Kojima + Yoko Taro would be amazing.

One of their best certainly although not their overall best tbh, both Bayo games have deeper combat while W101 is still their most technically creative game, Transformers is actually very sharp in depth as well. Nier has the best story, dodge and movement mechanics, Vanquish had the best shooting mechnics.
