Thought so. Then again, it is Dragon Quest aka the best PS4 game this generation. The preorder from amazon Japan will probably set me back like 100€

Usually games like DQ are a little higher, but the reality is that people never pay MSRP price for the games either.  You can expect to take off around 20% from that price even day 1.  Not sure about importing prices though, just from my experience being in Japan.  I would imagine you could easily find it for 7000 yen for the ps4 version just about anywhere.

Heh, that's been my one concern since the game was originally announced. I've never played a DQ game before, but I've always got the impression that they were kind of western RPGish in that you create your hero and go through the story with just them rather than the traditional JRPG party format. And well... it still seems to me like the focus is 100% on a boring customisable hero rather than the cool unique party that I play RPGs for. So yeah, not really looking like my type of game so far.

That's just because he's alone in the party at that point.

DQ is probably the only game that does not break traditions and I fully expect you to be able to have normal turn based battle with full control over the full party. It might also have an auto battle option like the mobile remasters which is a pretty nice feature for a grind heavy game like DQ.

Maybe. Probably depends on how and where you buy it.

Most shops give discounts, too, so paying the tax usually isn't a huge deal.
