Has the series been having problems? Aside from the weird MMO, it seemed to be fine overall so far.

DQ fans, like myself, are very protective of the series from changing too much. The Japanese fans are even more passionate. For example, DQ9 almost had a action-like system but that REALLY pissed fans off so they scrapped the idea. Seems they slightly revived the idea in the PS4 ver. But since it is still turn based they probably don't care. I just wonder what benefit it provides since in ARPGs it doesnt stop you from getting hit -moving from enemy. But if you can avoid hits, I can see this being very cool.

I could see it being used for avoidance.  I could also see positioning being important, where some attacks do AoE damage and you have to position yourself well to get the most out of it.  Or perhaps inflict damage in a straight line across the battlefield.  Or do more damage from the side or behind.  Kinda like how Chrono Trigger's moving enemies had similar effect only in this case you can also move, making it a more active system.

He clarifies he's not talking from a Switch vs PS4 perspective, so you turn it into 3DS vs PS4? :p

He didn't say the PS4 version wasn't competing against the 3DS version, just that a late Switch port would positively impact the PS4. Do you disagree that?

In any case how PS4 version doing will be limited buy 3DS version. In Japan Switch version in any case will be mostly be played in handheld mode, so absence of Switch version will have limited boost for PS4.

He stated that DQ11 curently in Japan is No.1, so I refferd to that when I wrote:  "hardly thats PS4 version would sell more than 3DS version, 23m instal base plus portable version".

That seems somewhat inconsistent. If the PS4 version is competing against the handheld 3DS version, why does the Switch version being "mostly played in handheld mode" mean the a late launch would have little effect? Unless you believe the Switch version is going to flop no matter when it comes out, they're either both direct competition (in which case a late Switch launch would provide a positive boost to the PS4), or neither are.

Well Switch will have Splatoon 2 in summer. :)

I don't mean it as a PS4 vs Switch thing. I mean it just from the PS4's point of view and no Switch version at launch is a big positive for it.

Anyway ps4 version despite being 3000 yen more expensive is #1 on Japan.  Ps4 slim sold out too.

That is such a mistake, they should have made sure they had extra stock this week.

You are right, that sound little inconsistent, but I don't think Switch or PS4 version will have huge influence on sales of each other, but if there is no even 3DS (handheld) version much more people would both PS4 version beacuse there is no handheld version of game. But in any case Switch in Japan will mostly be used like handheld, PS4 is just home console. I dont think game will flop on Switch (I can even easily see double dip of some 3DS and PS4 owners for Switch version), but 3DS version will most likely easily rule them all.

But I've never said ps4 version will sell more.  I'm just showing how well it's pre orders are doing.

I never said that you did, but I said despite preorders, 3DS version of game will almost certain sell more.

I've always agreed with that
