Forums - Microsoft - Why you should want a 360.

What a convincing argument Starcraft. You've made me want one now.

Honestly?

If your serious you should really consider it.  Like all consoles it has it's downsides, but lacking quality games isn't one of them.  If your serious and you have any more questions about the console, feel free to ask here or PM me, and I'll do my best to answer them honestly and accurately.

Hey, this thread was a pretty good idea, starcraft. Would you mind doing one of these for the PS3? That would be awsome.

I have a gaming PC, so that negates most of the 360's library. There are some other exclusives that are interesting(especially Blue Dragon), but the crap hardware quality keeps me away.

Funny thing is, I was intent on buying a 360 a little more than a year ago. But as the hardware issues became more clear, and more and more games got released on PC. The whole idea just sort of fell apart.

I may still get one someday, but not till it's well under $200 and the hardware gets a real redesign.

I'm pretty sure your being sarcastic (sometimes its a bit hard to tell with you).  But if your not, I wouldn't mind making a PS3 one later this month when I redo this 360 one.  I'd do it honestly, focusing on the console's strong points, but I'm still not sure anyone would take it seriously.

I don't know about you, but I haven't heard of any recently (last few months or so) purchased hardware crapping out.  I think they have pretty much taken care of the issues.

There have been at least some reports of failures on more recent hardware. More importantly, you just have to look at what has been changed. The GPU has been the major issue, yet the CPU is the chip that got a shrink. It still has the same GPU and poor cooling. It's better, but still not good. The GPU needs to go to 65nm or smaller, and/or a totally revised layout with better airflow.

Their is more airflow by virtue of the shrunk CPU and motherboard as well as an additional heatsink (which is how they refurbished consoles, but it's now how they manufacture them).

They've beefed up the GPU cooling, reduced the heat from the CPU by 30 watts and they've adjusted their manufacturing techniques so that the solder is better suited to the heat. Isn't that enough?

Tease.

starcraft, while i agree that the 360 has some really good exclusives lined up, i have to say that most of these exclusives probably only appeal to a hardcore market. i say this because in '07, the 360 boasted without a doubt, the BEST games. yet the 360's game of the year (bioshock), shifted little over 1.5 million copies. same applies for mass effect. no other system had so many aaa titles in such a small time.

360 will have another good year for games, but the simple fact that sony will also have a good year will overshadow the quality the 360 has. ps3 had no games last year, yet it still sold units. now games like gt5:p (not even a full game) are shifting units like it was the real deal. if a game like bioshock can't push the 360 into a sales frenzy, then what makes you think that fable 2 or ninja gaiden 2 will change that? we all know the effect gears 2 will have, but banjo kazooie has not been on a system since n64, and i'm guessing the majority fans of that game have a wii, so you can't really count that as a proven franchise, when it's been dorment since god knows when, things have changed.

the ONLY game i can say that will SHIFT consoles is gears 2. the rest are really good games, but are not really system sellers.
