They make great handheld RPGs that would be great for the Switch. All their biggest games besides Monster Hunter comes to Xbone anyway. But their Japanese stuff makes more sense on Switch than Xbone.

Not really a surprise since the Xbox brand is not popular in Japan.

SquareEnix is a Japanese company. They ditched Nintendo in the nineties and sold their best seller ever with Sony. Xone is a failure in Japan so SquareEnix wants to go where the money is. Nintendo KILLS the portable market and looks like they will for at least another few years with lots of awesome Square Enix games. Can't wait til Seiken Densetsu!!!

When that company will be pumping out new original good games i'll care...what I read is "our dev team suck, Scorpio power is out of reach for the cost of dev compared to the ROI, plus we don't have any new licence, only Japanese, and wapanese buy our stuff".

Most Xbox releases by SE are multiplatform anyway so it's not like this'll make much of a difference.  Nintendo has always gotten exclusives from SE (at least on handhelds), and since the Switch is now their de-facto handheld of the future it's only natural for SE to focus on it.

No biggie for me. Unless it's a former Eidos game, I don't buy SE's games.

Of course Square-Enix would give priority to a platform that is selling well in Japan and where the JRPGs they release have a chance of selling well, versus a platform that will barely sell in Japan and which audience is more focused in Western stuff (referring to the Scorpio).
Having said that, the Xbox will still get stuff like Tomb Raider, Just Cause, Hitman, Deus Ex, etc.

I would say they said this in regards to a strong Switch launch, rather than attack on the Scorpio.. :/
