Forums - Gaming - Europe has become an equal in console sales to the US!

That really depends, Nintendo consoles are almost always more popular in US than they are in Europe, not to mention MS consoles, actually only consoles that are usually selling better in Europe than in US are Sony consoles.

Not a single year of EU being over US but its been consistently within 10%.

Yup, and with Switch and Scorpio this year, US will again be over Europe.

People here are less interested in gaming in general, I would guess.
Here in PL its hardcore only machine.

You are aware Europe has always been the biggest market for gaming the region just has very diverse taste in gaming right across the board. A large part of Europe are PC gamers especially the likes of Eastern Europe, I hear Scandanavia are quite into PC gaming as well.

In europe PC gameing is much bigger.... while in the US more people use consoles (compaired).

The console market in europe though is mostly playstation.
It used to be a sega market, but when sega stopped makeing them, people seemed to gravitate towards the playstation.

Isn't it fairer to compare Europe to North America?

If you compare EU to USA then from now on the EU loses ~1/4 sales thanks to Brexit.

Take that Brussels!

They'll learn to offer Marmite sandwiches too, instead of just Vegemite ones!!!

About games development, Europe, and in the past particularly UK, has always been relevant, probably in proportion more for PC games and less for console ones than in USA or Japan.

We could set fire to Scotland and move the UK further south like a pop pop boat.

If we're comparing contininents then North America includes Canada and Mexico and Europe includes the UK.

If we're comparing states then the EU no longer includes UK (or won't soon).

A bunch of Brexit-phobic EU enthusiasts must (or at least like to) think Great Britain is kept moored to the rest of Europe by a giant chain and that we'll cut it leaving you adrift in the Ocean.

The thread says Europe not EU so it's the continent Brexit doesn't change that and that event won't happen for 2 years minimum anyway. As for the Scots they're actually the only part of this island to have never been conquered in a conflict so good luck trying to set Scotland on fire I hear the Romans advise against it though.
