Forums - Gaming - Will PSN be able to compete with Nintendo's subscription in Japan?

Minecraft on the Vita appears to be the only 1M+ online multiplayer game that Sony has in Japan. Splatoon, Mario Kart and Brawl are all way more popular and Minecraft will be on Switch too.

If Japanese gamers decide they only want to pay for one subscription, what does Sony have that can compete with Nintendo's home and portable service, lower price and massive exclusives?

34 years playing games.

Can Nintendo or PS4 compete with Xbox in Japan!? I dunno man. Nintendo has the most forward thinking for Online and Xbox is the best selling system in Japan right now. Questions we need answers to.

that 1month and 3 snes games deal is killer... it depends on how many switches they sell.

Sony doesn't really care about Japan anymore. They won't make another handheld and they've moved their SIE headquarters to the USA.

You might as well ask what Microsoft is going to do and the answer is the same: Cede the market.

What about outside Japan? Once FIFA, Minecraft and CoD have moved over it's only really GTA 5 left. That's a lot of revenue disappearing.

Do we even have any data of how many PS4 and PSVita users are subscribe to the PSN in Japan?

I can't tell if this is real or not, but I'm sure those games will continue to sell way better on ps4

I saw this thread and I was trying to remember that meme. Then it occurred to me.
"Globally in America".

We seem to be getting a constant amount of "In Japan" threads. How will this sell in Japan, what will they do in Japan, who will sell better in Japan. Now this crazy one about subscription services.

Are we looking at the start of a new meme? "Globally in Japan"?

We don't even know what the price of the subscription will be or what it will offer yet you want to compare it Sony for what?

I wonder what Japans subscription list is like. This is what Asia's has been.

*LIST*

Plus they have "subscribe for a year" and get a bonuses.
Buy one in January You get Infamous second son or the order 1886.
Buy one in February you could have gotten Bloodborne, another 3 months of PS, $20 off FF15, or $15 off Titan fall 2.

So if Japan subscription is anything like that - wow.

People don't pay yearly subscriptions for bargain bin games, they pay to play against human opponents and with their friends. Once the CoD and Minecraft kids have their Switch, mummy and daddy aren't going to pay for two subscriptions, imo, especially when one is cheaper, portable and includes the biggest online exclusives ever made.

This isn't just about Japan, btw.
