Forums - Gaming - Why the "hardware hate" is so big these days?

People hate whatever they don't have. They don't want to feel like they're missing something.

Or people don't have those things because they don't like it.

Hate is different, maybe I don't like the xbox one but I don't hate the sytem and I don't visit every xbox video or thread to talk shit about the xbox, because that's "hate" and I would be a "hater"  "I don't like this" doesn't equal "I hate this"

Although I don't think it's real "hate" People get bored when they have nothing to do, must be that. I find hard to believe that individuals really "hate" a piece of hardware.

I think we're hitting a point of diminishing returns. Rather than adding new elements, a lot of the games we're getting are basically the same games we've been playing for ten years now, just sharper. The only games that can really stand out in the graphical crowd, games such as Uncharted 4, Horizon, for Honor, etc., are more about the resources they use than the console that is driving them (i.e. they're expensive to make). Even a tech head like me isn't particularly attuned to 4k. SD to HD was a huge jump, on anything but a movie screen, I generally have to squint to make out the differences between full HD and ultra HD, or else sit very close to the TV itself. I think it's telling that some of the best games this year have come from Japan, which tends to favor gameplay over graphics.

I am hating hardware like the Switch (not nintendo itself, pls take on account) because its priced not according with what theyre delivering... at least on my opinion, not because its under or over powered... Other than that, I think better hardware and better graphics are always the best way to go.

Depends on where you line up on the charts. If you're first then it's great. If you're last then you tell everyone that it's overrated and a negative for the industry--until you're on top again, that is.

People complain about the minor upgrade that PS3 to PS4 is then praise the Pro because it so much better then PS3.

But to me the comparison is PS4 to PS4 pro and the effect seems even less, thus I see no use in it for the price.

But PS3 was a very ambitious console for the time that it still hold-up somehow in 2017, 11 years after release. I was shocked when I discovered CPU-wise PS3 was more powerful than PS4. PS4 was a very safe bet from Sony after the ultra-ambitious PS3 that almost led the whole company to bankruptcy... Sure they had to play safer with PS4, but it was somehow way too safe, it used components that were very mid-range in 2013, let alone 2017, i`m sure they could have kept the price whithin the 400$ price tag and deliver something better.

But, I see nowadays it`s taboo to even complain about that. People need to realize that hardware is not just  about eye-candy, and even craving for eye-candy, photorrealistic games isn`t a bad thing. Complaining about somehow the game not holding up steady frame-rate ( when it should) or have consistent resolution is something almost criminal nowadays.

PC is for those who rarely play local multiplayer and typically play alone. It is also convienent since you can use it for almost anything else. Xbox One compatability is badass too

This is Dreamhack with 22,000 PC's. And almost 30,000 PC gamers.

You would be surprised how many people of my generation have multiple PC's next to each other for local Multiplayer. PC gamers play alone? Not always. Our local multiplayer events are certainly bigger, better, larger and more spectacular though.
Your move consoles.

Gamers these days don't know what the hell they want.

It seems to me that gamers want power, but they don't want to pay for it.  They want the company to take a hit on it.  Kind of a selfish, effed up mindset to have if you ask me.

Thanks last gen when overpowered consoles sold at a loss. Companies have learned from that mistake, yet gamers don't want to go back to paying realistic prices. Also thanks advertising for conditioning everyone to believe you can't be happy if you don't have the latest toy.

Maybe people don't want to buy a slightly upgraded console every 2-3 years?

its not like they have got a gun to anyones head......

To OP.... i think they have just become louder.
