Damn, quite the drop for the Switch.  More in line with the PS4 than its predecessors, both HH and HC.  Anyone know the real stock situation in Japan?

The thing is the comparisons isnt really a biggie atm. I mean wiiu above ps4. And vita above switch/ps4.

That said situation is switch is impossible to find. Hiska on gaf posted a list (any1 want to find it) of the situation (for retailers, like when they are getting stock)

If it's impossible to find, how do you explain the 61k sold?

As m'y post Said, most consoles were sold out for their second week, but that doesnt change thé fact that is always thé same that first week > second week> Third week> fourth week > etc until the week of à Big release( Mario kart here) and manufacturers know that.

That was true for 3DS, ps4, Vita, all thé consoles from february/march( less true for WiiU for thé Third/fourth week thanks to Christmas ) and that will bé true for Switch.

They give stock according to thé demand, so when you kkow thé market After years of looking at launches, you know that if they gave this much its Because they knew it wouldnt have sold much more, better to give just enough that to give Bad impression that there are a lot of stock left for thé first weeks

Do they, though? Sony sure didn't with ps4 being sold out for months. Ninty could possibly be facing similar problems especially considering how much stock they allocated in places like Europe where it even beat the ps4 (in some countries). I think they don't have much stock in Japan because of that.

Well, ps4 launch was unprecedented to be fair (I remember second week in US being something like 96k)

Retailers reported that a small shipment would come around march 7th which according to some GAFers were being sold through raffles in most stores, that's probably it.

Nintendo reports said they would ship 2m units ACROSS march, not day one, so using the superdata numbers nintendo has only around 500 k units left to ship in this month worldwide.

Nintendo really needs to get stock problems sorted. There's no room for a Wii-like stock situation for the Switch.

Thats a ridiculous argument, its virtually sold out in all of the major regions so there is no telling how much higher sales would be if they had enough supply. For all we know, Switch could have sold 403k or 497k if they had shipped 500k in Japan.

I don't see the point of any comments on Switch sales if it's indeed sold out. What are they supposed to sell anyway when shipments are lower than those of 3ds?

Anyway, software sales, other than Zelda and Horizon aren't all that great. Hope we get to see 3ds mega sales again. Those were the days (psp, too, had some fantastic weeks)

Exactly, there is no way of knowing how good/bad Switch sales would be if it had no stock issues.

Can Zelda sell 1mil? ;p

In Japan alone? I'd probably say no as Zelda usually sells 400~500k there. But since the attach rate is crazy (Switch) and it will be another month until something big comes (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), I say it has a shot if you combine both versions; which is impressive anyway.

Since the Switch sold around 400k in Japan on its first 2 weeks, I think it's a fair bet to say it will be at least around 600k by the time MK8Deluxe drops. With that attach rate in mind, BotW would be easily above 300k, and combined with the Wii U version above 400k (and potentially more). Of course it will drop after big games like MK8Deluxe launch, but then it will already be halfway of 1m. So yeah, with something around 400k within around 2 months on the market, I say there's a fair chance it will eventually reach 1m.

PS: I wonder how much it will sell worldwide LT. 5m is a given right now (it sold 1.3m FW on Switch alone despite being supply limited, according to SuperData). I wouldn't be surprised if it reaches 8m or even 10m.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

That's assuming that SuperData is correct. Also, Nintendo said that they will increase shipment numbers if the demand is there. No doubt they've increased those numbers.
