Forums - Gaming - Destructable weapons and horrible framerate should disqualify Zelda as GOAT?

Runs at 20fps for NTSC and 17fps for PAL.

N64 was the most powerful console at the time and still couldn't do 30fps. BoTW is Nintendo's first HD Zelda, with (one of) the biggest open worlds ever created, it's on a portable and has no/little framerate issues when running at a lower resolution, something PS4 and PS4 Pro gamers have no problem understanding.

OoT's destructable weapon system was bad. Wooden shields, bombs and arrows could all be destroyed permanently and it could take hours to find replacements. Meanwhile BoTW's perfectly implemented weapon system will often encourage you to drop all your weapons and steal the enemies' instead. A fun and rewarding strategy.

Personally I don't think framerate issues should disqualify Ocarina of Time given that it does everything else so well but if framerate is so important then I'm more than happy to welcome the new King.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Around the Network

Arrows and bombs were easy to find in OoT, just cut grass.

But Skyward sword had breakable shields. You had to repair them all the time. There was only one unbreakable shield in that game and that was gotten through a method you had to basically look online to get.

lol

We already have a number of threads on the issues of BoTW, this thread should just be a post in one of those. Nothing presented seems to justify the creating of a separate thread.

Thus, locked.
