It works really well in some games, like the Diablo series, it worked pretty well in Daggerfall as well, but the maps were a mess since they attempted a poorly rendered 3D map and there were several floors and layers messing up the outlay completely.

I'm neither for nor against, it really depends, and it has to be done right and not lazily, of course.



Around the Network

It's absolutely fine for arcade games like Ziggurat. Doing a thousand short handcrafted levels wouldn't make sense in this case. The randomness is part of the replay value after all.
