Your choices are... 4k (29fps) or 1080p (30fps).

The correct choice should be pretty clear. :P

I have a 1080p TV so I don't benefit from 4k. On my TV is the image much better if I have it down sampling from 4k to 1080p rather then just rendered in 1080p?

Doesn't matter what resolution your TV is. The higher the resolution the better.

Many forms of Anti-Aliasing actually render a game (Or part-of) at a higher resolution and then downscale the game to a lower resolution, downsampling is that very same concept.

It is also why PC gamers laughed at console gamers last generation when console gamers said their console had good graphics.

Favour Resolution. Downsampling is amazing. Foliage would benefit the most from that.

That's what I don't understand.  does SSAA mean more things pop up in game and appear on screen? How exactly does it work.

SSAA is Super sampling. It's not a graphics effect that adds more shadowing, lighting or objects on screen.

Ok so the added shadowing,  lighting,  objects etc for the Pro mode must get added to both options the same.

And consoles did have awesome graphics last gen.  We were blown away multiple times just like we are this gen.

I can't agree. :P Whilst aesthetically they were decent, they did lack in the graphics department.

This generation allot less details are baked, more details are dynamic/real time, which is generally of a higher quality caliber.

Obviously as every gen console games dramatically improve and will keep doing so until we hit the diminishing returns barrier.  Sony ps3 games still look fantastic even by today's standards.

The console was a beast.

The console was a beast.

I'm comparing it to the PC of course. Battlefield 3 was placing the PC almost generationally ahead of the Playstation 3.
Crysis was holding it's own against almost all the Playstation 3 titles even a decade after it's release.

Then we had the likes of Metro... Which pushed out glorious Tessellation.

Oh and the PC could still play games higher than the Playstation 3's general default 720P or lower resolution, the PC has had 4k displays since about 2003... You could do eyefinity as well.

It doesn't matter what high end expensive pc's could do.  Fact is millions of console gamers were blown away by the consoles graphics.  The visuals were good,  we were impressed.

High end pc players may not have been but that's irrelevant.

Wait they haven't released the Pro patch that improves the framerate?

They have.  If you choose optimise graphics it's a rock solid 30fps.  If you choose favour resolution it is a solid 30 with the occasional drop to 29.

Oh I was under the impression they were going to try pushing it past 30 fps with the performance option.

I beg to differ.
