Forums - Nintendo - Zelda: BotW - Digital Foundry Wii U Comparison + Frame Rate Test

The one we've all been faiting for! Do Wii U owners get a good experience?

TLDW:

Switch is sharper at 900p

Neither has great AA

Everything else is identical except for texture filtering (Switch has a minor advantage).

The difference in Audio Quality is minor, almost negligible

Framerate can drop aggressively on either system (~20fps), seems to be streaming related

Updated::

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

WiiU holds up really well. Well it's almost natural, since this was created for the WiiU i guess

900p 20 fps. Welcome to Gen 9 in 2017.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Interesting. Well, seems like I'm not missing out on WiiU.

Seems everything's identical except for a slightly higher resolution on Switch which isn't worth €330 to me. This also means that the WiiU has the graphical improvements visible between the E3 trailer and the latest one a month or two ago all the same. The framerate isn't perfect though, still I only actually noticed it while playing only once yet really so I guess I'll survive.

I was hoping they'd comment on loading times as reggie mentioned there was a differences.

At the start of the video they said that this was a initial impression of the code. They will do a more in depth  comparison later

From a different source. "The Switch appears to have a leg up on the initial loading and starting the quest, but Wii U seems to have a slight advantage when entering Shrines and restarting from death."

Basically the same as Witcher 3. So, Gen 9 confirmed.

I hope it can be patched, im so close to buying this game on the WiiU but I won't at frame drops like that. I was also one of those people to not play The Witcher 3 on PS4 until the fps issues were resolved.
