Forums - Nintendo - I was only half joking when I said BOTW was Far Cry 3...

... then I climbed the first radio tower.

Good to see Nintendo's taking inspiration from other great games.

Far cry 3 was dull except Vaas.

Farcry 3 was awesome. I hope BotW to be better. Gonna have to wait 1 month to get it since I am going to work tonight, and come back in april... plus I have Horizon Zero Dawn yet to finish.

Didn't you say the same about FF15?

Nah, FFXV isn't nearly as good as Far Cry 3. I called it Far Cry XV once but just because of the open world aspect. BOTW literally is Far Cry 3. The similarities are piling up very quickly.

Gonna get to play this for a few hours tomorrow night on switch. Can't wait.

Played 12 hours yesterday. I didn't even go to the Kokariko Village yet xD Too much to discover (like a hidden shrine for example)

I'm not sure how long I played, but pretty much the same got side tracked 4 or 5 times on the way to the village.

I think it takes a somewhat weak inspiration, but an inspiration nonetheless, fron FC games yeah.

Yeah, I'd say among its inspirations are Far Cry (and most Ubisoft open world games), Dark Souls, The Elder Scrolls, Xenoblade, and, of course, the original Legend of Zelda.

It certainly feels most like Zelda, but a Zelda tweaked to satisfy the expectations of modern open-world games.

Yes, it's a great first person shooter

Yeah the towers are VERY Far Cry 3-esque. But that's not a bad thing as I loved Far Cry 3
