Well, you guys... I'm downloading overwatch onto the new PC. Next week, GTX 1080TI. You guys wont burst my bubble, lol. I haven't even had a chance to do anything 3D related yet, but, just give me a few moments. I'm almost ready to play my first game on this PC, and I bet it's going to be golden!

After looking at all the benchmarks, all I can say is that I've checked R7's off my list entirely and I'll instead be looking at the R5 1600X once the benchmarks are out for that later on this year. I won't be building a new rig till near the end of 2017, so I've got plenty of time to wait and see how vega performs as well as the R5 series.

That's what i'm waiting for.

I have yet to see 1600x game benchmarks.

Just wait for optimizations, 2Q is ages away.

Got a i7 6700k exactly around this time last year. If I hadn't, I'd be all over the 1800X. There's just something about it that makes me want to spend $499 on a cpu.

Although, really prefer M-ITX, AMD don't do those.

Everyone waited for those FX optimizations....for ages that never came. People are being optimistic that bios updates are going to close the gap in gaming. Reality is AMD can't wait until everyone moves to 1440p/4K gaming where the CPU shows less vulnerable.

The question lies on whether Intel will move the 4C/8T formula down to the i5, and introduce a 6C/12T or 8C/16T into the consumer i7 lineup in the future of if they just plan to continue to outgame AMD with their Quad Cores and let the IPC do the talking.

I've been following zen for a little more than a year holding to my old i7 920 pc (it's not even funny :( ).
Now that actual ryzen reviews are out i'm actually quite pleased with them.

yes gaming performance kind of under deliver and I was hoping better.
but there's some point to take into consideration.
If we look at individual benchmark we can clearly see that ryzen is a beast except when single tread is highly used.
There's seems to have many problems with mobo and bios.
Games are not optimized to take advantage of ryzen.
Games and engine optimization for intel cpu may hurt performance on ryzen processor.
Even if AMD priced the r7 1700 to compete against the 7700k it's true competitor stays the 6900k.
Ryzen includes many new feature for Amd and these certainly needs tweaking and ajustement, some might be resolved via bios update some may need design fixes.

for all those reasons I have no problems believing AMD when they say it will only get better via patch and updates.

If single threaded performance are any indication of what it could potentialy deliver, in this case after all update and fixes the R7 should perform just under the 6900k for gaming.

Personnaly i'm waiting for R5 1600X or 1400X as those should perform better or the same in game for less $.
And looking at how the 1700, 1700X and 1800X perform almost the same when clocked at the same speed I might event go for a R5 1500 or 1300.
