Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch Review Thread

"Compared to the Wii U on its merits, the Switch is a slam dunk."

This basically sums up everything.

The reviews sound exactly like what i thought abt switch: a glorified zelda machine

Looks like you only readed until the 2nd review where they say

"Those seeking more than a Zelda machine can wait a bit, but the rest should grab a preorder while they last"

But totally ignoring the part where they suggest this could be the best Nintendo machine to date and the part where they valorate the hardware as "great", you take a criticisms about the launch line up as a critique about the whole console.

pls do tell us what else you get from those reviews.

What's sad from some of the most positive reviews is that they even bother to compare switch to the lowest common denominator. Take pocketgamer's review on screen for example. Instead of comparing it with newer portable devices, those reviews prefer to compare it to 3ds and wiiu controller. Everything will always look wonderful if they compare it with a turd bad example.

the reviewers praised and talked abt how amazing the concept behind joycon is, yet when it's used on console mode (where it matters the most), it doesnt always work. Like how the heck this console can get away with such glaring problem?

I dunno, maybe because not everybody suffered this? Or because as long as there is no obstruction between the console and the joycons the tests show that it works fine? Or maybe Because they don't know if Nintendo is gonna solve that with the update coming tomorrow to Switch?

And they haven't really felt the joycons potential since Zelda was all they got and it makes no use of them.

Waiting for TB to do the #pcmasterrace review.

I dunno if this one would fit in here, since he doesn't score it and is a youtuber, but ProJared is one of the few I trust when it comes to game reviews and he's done one, sooo.... here is his video if you wanna add it in there somehow.

I can't help but think that Nintendo kind of missed the boat by not having a bunch of non-gaming apps ready at launch.  If it had at least some of the functionality of a standard tablet, I think it would be much more attractive to the casual user.

And they really need to address that sync issue.  Watching that video could easily convince someone that the Switch is not ready.  Nintendo should have been all over this as soon as it was mentioned.

Yeah, I feel the same way. If it had more things like netflix, a web browser, and the Virtual Console that would have been great. At least another appealing game would be good too. As it is now, I think it's fair if people don't want to buy the system anytime soon.

I love this review. Too many reviews focus on specs rather on usability.
