Final Fantasy XV, a game from the biggest Japanese franchise accounted for less than 20℅ of sales on Xbox One.

There's literally no point on asking for smaller Japanese games.
Unless Phil is prepared to pay for development costs or buy someone exclusive deals.
Nioh won't come to Xbox lol

20% doesn't seem too bad considering the 2:1 install base. I think Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a lot lower though.

Actually, that seems worse. It really should be closer to 67% PS4 and 33% XBO. 20% would be fine if the PS4 outsold it 4:1 already, and FF is less than 20%. It more illustrates XBO gamers general lack of interest in Japanese games. Also, keep in mind this is for one of the largest Japanese releases. Smaller ones have a much smaller share for XBO.

I came here for the Scorpio, but it would make somewhat sense for some of these niche Japanese games to release on UWP so it will have xbox/pc install base. Not too interested in the games however, outside of Nioh because it kind of reminds me of Bloodborne/Soul series and aims at the western audience in some ways. Phil honestly just need to make sure the big Japanese games like Resident Evil, FF, KH,MGS is on their platform which they have and sold pretty well.

What's that saying people always use? "The strongest console never won a generation"?

Usually, I'd agree but SNES and PS4 are really the standouts here.

People do need to realize that with X86 there is a lot of chances for developers for their games to be available over multiple devices for many years and as Xbox has shown with Xbox360 backwards comp. older games still sell.

This is also the case on PS4 where some PS2 classics still sell quite a lot, so making the games backwards compatible even if they don't sell the same numbers as they do on the PS4 there is a big chance, especially if its a GOOD game, that the game will make their money back over time.

There was a survey going around that analyze why people bought a ps4 and the biggest reason was resolution. Resolution and framerate has become a big thing recently in the last 3-4 years. If VGChartz is correct regarding the best selling games, they are usually multiplatform games so people might just want the best versions of them. Although I prefer getting on xbox due to controller and xbox live, but if the difference is huge and people can tell the difference they will buy an xbox scorpio especially if they have a 4k tv.

Exactly, now that there is UWP you can target it and make games on both xbox and pc. I personally want to see more of those PC games like civilization 6 and star citizen on xbox one than some of these japanese games.

If they upgrade the CPU to Ryzen, they will have a serious advantage over the PS4 Pro. Should be interesting.

Missed this. Current rumors are its doing what the Pro did. Same Jaguar cores, just overclocked. They may go for a slight upgrade in the cores, forgot what that was called. Still, would only make a small difference.

They are not going to use Ryzen. It has an 8 core CPU you in it. The cheapest 8 core Ryzen is $319 at launch, so MAYBE $250 for MS. Unless you want this sucker to cost $599+, which we know how that works, it ain't getting Ryzen. That'll most likely be saved for the PS5, which after nearly 2 years on the market, should be cheap enough by then for a $399 console.

By the logic of that survey then people in America must really not care about resolution while people in Europe/Japan really care about resolution. (Which simply isn't the case, and that survey you're drawing from is Inaccurate or has a bad sample pool)

PS4 has a strong base in North America as well. A lot of people probably picked an xbox ove playstation in united states because they are familiar with it from last gen and of course Halo, Gears, Forza , controller and xbox live.

Youre missing my point. Resolution was most likely not a deciding factor for most people. Internet gaming communities seem to be seriously disconnected from reality.
