How Switch can be more expensive when its $299 while Pro is $399!?

He's planning to sell his standard model, so Pro would be effectively "cheaper". I still don't see the appeal of changing to the Pro, but, wel, it could make sense if you care that much about power.

Someone actually read my thread!

So I've decided I want a PS4 Pro instead of getting the Nintendo Switch. In my mind the Pro is the way to go at the moment. But I want YOUR opinion on what I should get and whats the better option. I DO own a PS4 and a Wii U btw.

PS4 Pro Pros:  I have a 4K gaming monitor, I have games that are supported by the Pro, the rest of my games has the boost mode. Extra 1TB, 1080p captured gameplay and livestreams. I'm selling my PS4 for the Pro so PS4 Pro option is cheaper and Rocket League 4K update is coming!

PS4 Pro Cons: Still the same console.... I think that's all.

Nintendo Switch Pros: New console, Breath of the Wild, Splatoon global testfire in March...............................................................................

Nintendo Switch Cons: More expensive. Only 1 game I'm interested in at launch. SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE and not getting stocked up until April. Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (I own on Wii U), Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade and all other games I'm interested in is NOT releasing anytime soon.

Come to think of it. I think the Pro is the better option. But what do you guys think? If you were me, what would you get?

Talk about a biased and wrong OP.

Surprised at the poll telling you to buy essentially the same console instead of having more variety, is this saying something about this place maybe? A resolution update is more important I guess...

The poll didn't specify whether you had the base system or not so I'm not sure how it's supposed to say anything and an upgraded system means more than just resolution, it also boasts a higher framerate along with better graphical effects ...

Buy whatever the hell you want, I don't know your personal tastes :)

Seriously, though, I have a Pro, and it's a good (far from paltry!) upgrade, especially on a monitor like yours. Of course, it's not going to play Mario or Splatoon, so if you're itching for those, go with the Switch. Hell, maybe buy a Pro and a 3DS to fit your budget.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Two completely different playgrounds.

If one already has a PS4 and wants access to the next gen of Nintendo games, the choice is obvious.

If the reason for replacing the PS4 with a PS4P is to justify using it with a 4K display, I'm not sure I consider it a bargain to knock $100 off the MSRP by selling the PS4 considering they play the same games.

Originally, I was under the impression that the PS4P was the stealthy way of SCE re-releasing a console that would actually have the processing power to properly run PSVR without compromising performance (calling the pair Neo and Morpheus while in development was a hint). Unless you have or have immediate plans to buy PSVR, the PS4P becomes a harder sell if the primary reason is "because I just bought a 4K display."

Well, objectively speaking it is the better option for him. If he is going to sell his original PS4 to get the Pro, it will cost him less than the Switch and he should already have games to play in the new console. He also owns a Wii U, so he'll be able to play Zelda BotW anyways, and that's the only game he pointed out as a plus of the Swith in the OP.

If Nintendo is your 1 or 2 favorite publisher, I'd lean Switch.

If having a wide variety of the top third party titles is important to you ... get the PS4 (doesn't matter which one).
